Hey guys,

I'm a relatively new 7130e owner. I'm really enjoying it. I use Verizon because I get a 22% discount through my employer; it's a good price.

I was thinking, could I completely ditch my cable modem on my home computer and use the blackberry instead? I should be able to tether it to my computer, right? Using the high speed network?

I don't do tons of Internet use at home, but I do play online gaming. Would the blackberry be able to handle that or does it have high ping?

How much extra does it cost? If I'm paying $35 for cable Internet, the tethering option may be worth it.

I wouldn't use it for online gaming, it may be fast enough but it's not consistant enough to do it. It would work ok for internet and e-mails and such, but not games. it's 15 more for tethering.

If I signed up for tethering, would I essentially get a Verizon Internet account? Like for email and newsgroups?

well, you already have an e-mail address (unless you haven't set it up yet) @vzw.blackberry.net

all of it will go to your blackberry, unless you want it to go to your computer...I'd just get a gmail account or something like that and use both accounts together. what e-mail client are you using on your computer?

Not so much concerned about email, actually. I don't use the blackberry.net email address yet, but I will soon.

I was actually hoping I'd be able to access the Verizon newsgroup server that is normally available through their DSL service...
