Default caller id doesn't work on 8700g

Please Login to Remove!

For some reason whenever I get a call, it only shows the number, even though the number is in my address book. Then when I go to my call log immediately after the phone call (if I don't answer it), it will give the correct name. Why am I not getting the name for caller ID? Am I missing something? Is some setting wrong?

Thanks...

You should ask this in the 8700 forums, not the 8100 forum.

I hope you get your answer!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Do you have content encryption on? If so, when encrypted, you won't get name even if it's in your phone book.

To turn off encryption, Options/ Security Options / General Settings / Content Protection

Hope this helps.

Oops, not sure how I missed the 1. Thanks for moving this to the proper forum, NJBlackBerry.

Thanks josh816816 for the tip - that explains everything. I guess I will turn content protection off - though I suppose that makes things less secure if I happen to lose my blackberry, right?

Is the ability to have caller ID at the same time as content encryption just a feature that RIM hasn't offered yet, or is there some more permanent reason why it doesn't exist?

Thanks a bunch!
