Default Messages VS Emails!

Please Login to Remove!

hey guys,
just purchased an 8700c, not what I expected, but not too bad.

when I access my messages (sms), i also see emails, is there a way to separate them? when I access my email icon, i only see my emails which is correct, but it gets annoying to see the emails listed when i access my messages.

thanks in advance.

Its one of those blackberry things. I switched from a Treo and it was annoying as hell at first but I am getting adjusted to it.

It is helpful if your emailing alot its just a central hub for everything...

If you install the zen theme it separates it to 2 inboxes, one for email and the other sms and mms...problem solved!

You can also also save a specific search which can be recalled using a key combination. I have saved searchs corresponding to emails (ALT+e), sms (ALT+a, this was default), pin (ALT+p, I use a lot of pin messaging). SO when I access my messages, I can do ALT+p to only pin messages and so forth. Not as good as separating, but good enough.

These are not set by default. You have to create the search and assign the key combination to them.

Say to create a key combination for displaying Pin messages:

Go to Messages. Click the trackwheel and select Search. Leave all the fields to default except, set Type=PIN. Click the trackwheel and select Save. Give a Title and selct a shortcut key. This key in combination of ALT can be used to recall this search while you are browing the messages.

You can create other customized searches too and assign them the key you like.

Hope this would explain.

Regards,
Subodh Gupta.
