Default BIS v. BES

Please Login to Remove!

Nextel, within the last few days, has been talking openly about "BIS," or "Blackberry Internet Service." They say it's supposed to bring the experience of the BES to the individual.

I work for a Nextel AR, and I called our corporate Data Exec, and he verified it, and said that it should be in the very near future, at least for Nextel.

I also sat in on a "Blackberry Knowledge Seminar" geared toward Nextel, with reps from up-the-scale in Nextel, as well as reps from RIM, and that's where I heard this rumor.

Anyone have any more info? Any thoughts?

I believe that BlackBerry Internet Service is the repackaged, rebranded BlackBerry Web Client. It gives you many of the BES features (better attachment viewing) but I don't believe it will offer any wireless syncing. BIS = BWC.

Yeah, wasn't sure about the wireless syncing myself. But the attachment veiwing is already there. I think the only thing that's really going to change, according to my connections, is going to be that the Blackberry Browser will be more HTML supportive, rather than WAP only.

From RIM's BlackBerry Website: "The BlackBerry Internet Service website (formerly referred to as BlackBerry Web Client) is a web interface, which allows you to access your BlackBerry Internet Service account on an Internet-enabled PC to configure email filters and other BlackBerry settings."

So rebranded, yes. Additional features...maybe?

Using the NOL browser on my 7520 to visit google.com gives me the "lite" (aka: No Images) version of the Google page, not the version complete with the pretty logo and buttons on the above mentioned site.[/url]
