Cingular Wireless is now the exclusive provider of Research In Motion’s (RIM) newest BlackBerry, the 7290 Wireless Handheld, as its first quad-band, Bluetooth-enabled handset for business travelers working within the United States. Subscribers will get voice, e-mail, Short Messaging Services (SMS), an organizer, Web browsing and corporate data access capabilities via the new offering, which operates in the GSM/GPRS 850 MHz/900 MHz/1800 MHz/1900 MHz bands. The new BlackBerry 7290 should be available next month for $149 with a two-year service agreement.
Apparently, RIM really wants its BlackBerries in everyone’s basket. Another deal signed with ISP USA.Net offers a Model 7280 BlackBerry for the rock-bottom price of $100 once all the discounts are taken into account. However, one must be a USA.Net/Net@ddress subscriber who is willing to become an AT&T Wireless subscriber – at least for the time being. Then, maybe, you can upgrade to the new Cingular offering.
