Default SMS fails with 'Requested facility not subscribed'

Please Login to Remove!

Our corporate BES IT policy was recently modified to allow sending SMS messages.

The policy was pushed successfully to all users, myself included (I am the handheld admin for our division).

Other devices can now send SMS successfully, but when I try, it fails with the message in the title above.

Any thoughts?

TIA,

Have you tried hard-resetting your device? One of the guys at our helpdesk had this happen to him and a hard-reset + tower change fixed it for him ... seems like an odd transient network thing ...

Yep, did that, as well as having the Sevice Books re-sent, as well as re-registering on the network.

After the service book re-send, the error message changed to:

'Short message transfer rejected'

At the suggestion of my BES admin folks, I called Cingular, and they discovered that my line of service (LOS) had a block on the send SMS feature (or it was simply not provisioned). After making changes, the device could send SMS. Now, however, it can't receive them ! (it could receive SMS before I called Cingular lol).

Bottom line, though - this was not a BES issue, but one of how the LOS was provisioned with the carrier.
