its not that it never goes away its that another pops up right in its place. You have to hit the ok button for each contact that you have. If you have alot of contacts, this could take awhile. But once i got through my list of contacts it google talk worked fine.

I am using transports for AIM, MSN and Yahoo. So far they all seem to be working. I am trying to diffrent option to see if its a paticular option that causes this issue.
Nice find, I was getting so frustrated! Thanks!

This is still really bumming me out. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app, changed my AIM password and my Google password (in an effort to invalidate the agents at anywise?), and deleted the 150 or so AIM/anywise entries in my GTalk account from the Windows side--all to no avail. leyb85 suggested manually sending XML unsubscribe commands via telnet to anywise, but I've struck out trying to find any suggestions on how to do this.

The "it only happens once per contact" concept doesn't seem to apply to me. I launch the app, log in, get "command failed", lock up, then the app dies per above.

I wonder if it's my BB OS? Any other suggestions? I really miss this app while travelling, and I travel often. Even today!

I have found that this workaround works fine. Gotta use the wheel button though (Not the enter button). I have 45 contacts and only have to hit it about 17 times. Still a neusance, but I suspect that only some user names are causing the problem... perhaps the length of the name? This does not happen on the PC client for google talk, just the bb. I tried to rename all the contacts to get rid of the %'s and @'s, but no luck. I hope this can get fixed soon.

I guess I'm just stupid when it comes to this! I'm having the exact same problem with the "Command Failed" and locking up. Gtalk works fine on my BB when I log in under a different account. Where do I go to do this unregister process? I registered using Psi. I keep seeing people talking about the transport they registered with and I just don't know!!! It might have something to do with msn.bgmn.net because I keep getting mail delivery errors sent to my gmail account with with this suffix. The only thing that shows up when I start Psi is my one (yes, just one Gtalk contact). I'm totally lost and I guess I need very detailed instructions. Sorry!

For anyone who has had luck with this, I try to follow Step 1 at XEP-0100: Gateway Interaction

Code:
<iq type='set' from='andy.dirnberger@gmail.com/Psi' to='aim.im.flosoft.biz' id='unreg1'>
 <query xmlns='jabber:iq:register'>
  <remove />
 </query>
</iq>
and get the following back:

Code:
<iq from="aim.im.flosoft.biz" type="error" id="unreg1" to="andy.dirnberger@gmail.com/Psi" >
 <query xmlns="jabber:iq:register">
  <remove/>
 </query>
<error type="cancel" code="405" >
<not-allowed xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-stanzas"/>
</error>
</iq>
Does anyone know what I did wrong?

I have over 300 contacts between each of those messengers.. the error seems pretty self explanitory to me that its having a problem processing the large number of contacts on startup. The client worked for me when I already had it loaded as I was loading up my google talk account with the different jabber transports. I wanted to make sure it fully worked so i exited the client and came back in and it crashed on load of the contact list.

I think that the problem would definately be on googles side, not blackberry. Within their client they seem to have either a built in limit on contacts or some timeout setting where it either processes the list entirely or gives up? I just reinstalled the latest version of google talk as of today (7/13/06) and no luck.

once i deleted all the contacts from the previous registrations of various agents (in my miranda contact list, offline or otherwise) and registerd another agent, google talk worked again.

Smile Solution Solution Solution!!!

You, plchan, are my hero. I have been struggling with this stupid problem for SIX MONTHS!!!

Thirty seconds after reading your note, I was logged in again and working all the way. Crashes are a thing of the past.

Good heavens. Wish I had thought of that before
