I just exchanged my first curve due to excessive dust under the screen among other issues. does anyone have any suggestions of how to keep dust out of the screen of the new unit? I use one of RIMs silicone skins on it and wore the first unit in a case but somehow dust still managed to find its way in.

Any idea? Thanks!

I understand that but none discuss how to prevent the issue, just that people experience it. I am looking for an answer on a more preventive level and a cluse as to where the dust may be getting in so I can figure something out.. Thanks!

Sorry, but you cant aviod dust getting under the screen. Especially the Curve, there are tiny openings in the body of the device on the sides of the screen. Many people reported the same problem with the 8700 series when it first got released, hopefully RIM will correct the problem real soon.

thats a shame, thanks for the answers though! I was hoping someone had come up with some way to tape off wherever it is getting in or something..

Well you could run tape all around your screen to seal it to the body but it will look like crap. My dust was getting in at the edge of the screen near the volume buttons.

If I thought I could do it neatly, I would run a line of super glue all around the edge of the screen but one slip and you could ruin the screen. It would seal the screen.

I traded in one 8300 and am on the 2nd and so far no dust.

Best Skins Ever Home Page

i bought two skins from this site here for the curve and cut the second one out a tiny square that sticks perfectly on the rubber just above the speaker. i left a tiny bit of room as the loud speaker can still funnel out its sound at a high quality.

highly recommend these skins, they are the best ive ever used and are not even visible.

This could be a totally crazy question, but has anyone tried vacuuming out the under-screen dust?

This has been a slowly-building problem for me since day 1, and is now really annoying. Was thinking maybe if I run a tiny vacuum attachment into the back or something (take out the battery, sim card, micro sd etc...) that might be able to suck something out. Not sure if I'd ruin the phone, though...

I would not use crazy glue anywhere near the screen. Crazy Glue has a tendency to frost the surface even if it doesn't come in direct contact with it.

Did not have the never to use crazy glue. I can report that my second 8300 is now getting dust under the screen. Same area just a little lower. Looks like this is going to be like the 8700.

Thankfully I have no dust. I put it in my pocket every day, so it would be constantly exposed to lint/dust. I can't imagine I'm just lucky??
