Default Information on banned account

Please Login to Remove!

My account (tomchill) was recently banned for an unknown reason.

Since I haven't posted in a while, and certainly never violated any of the usage rules, I suspect the action was unintentional. For now, I'm using a new account, but I'd like to get this resolved.

Unfortunately, I can't find any way to get it unbanned (or learn why it was banned) anywhere on the site. As a suggestion (and a courtesy), there should at least be an email sent to the person when their account gets banned with a brief explanation & a contact.

Note that I also replied to the email address for support provided when my account was originally activated, but didn't hear anything back from them either.

There are now 4 usernames under your IP. Two are the ones in question here. Are you on a public IP where others would log on with the same IP address?

Are you affiliated with the nuTsie application?

You were PMed by a moderator here on 9/10 with that information, and informed of the policy of one username. Please refer to that PM.

This username will be banned as well, you were informed to continue using jonfredric on this forum.

Thanks.

Yes, I'm a developer on the nuTsie application & others.

My company (like most) may be using a pool of IP addresses for all of our employees.

Is my account tied to an IP address, or email?

If it's indeed several different users with the same IP, that's fine. However, there were multiple threads about nuTsie with all the different usernames. We allow one thread, with one username for that kind of thing. We weren't even sure if your app was legal, either.

I will send you the PM, check there, and we will get this straightened out if need be.

I don't own the jonfredric account, nor have I ever used it. If a PM was sent to that account, I don't have access to it.

Still don't understand why my account was banned, but I'm glad to at least get some feedback.

the PM was sent to the tomchill account. There were numerous threads and posts created about the Nutsie thing such as " hey i got a phone call from a friend, he told me about this nuTsie service (www.nutsie.com). from what i have heard, you upload you iTunes on to you Blackberry, and it just streams from..."
That was posted from Romes. Know him?

If you don't know why the accounts were banned, you did not read the copy of the PM I just sent you.

Thanks for the reply (I didn't see your explanation because the PM was sent to this account instead of tomchill).

For general knowledge, the explanation was a violation of the Terms of Service, specifically, too many accounts on one IP address.

As I explained in my reply, I use my account from work, my phone, home, and public places when I travel. I wasn't expecting it to be tied to an IP address, nor limited because other people in the same company also have accounts. You may want to caution other corporate users that pool IP addresses.

As for nuTsie, it is legal to my knowledge (I'm not a lawyer, and this isn't the place to debate it), as it follows radio rules & pays artists/labels that would otherwise lose money from pirated tracks.

We had an issue like this with another developer. One member would post the info about the application. Then another member (from the same IP) would post as if they were a 3rd party saying how great the application is. It took some understanding on everyone's part to figure out how their company worked and how our forum worked and now we have no problems with that developer.

If there are multiple users posting from one IP that's fine. However, you all better get together and figure out who's going to post about the product. Don't get your co-workers to come in and rave about the product you all are developing as if they are 3rd parties to the application. That's not ethical and we don't allow it. That's likely why the usernames were banned. Post back what you've done to alleviate this situation and we may be able to allow you all back to the forums.

We never did get to the bottom of the legalities of the NuTsie program.

Tom, check your PMs. The old account as been reopened, and this tchill account will be closed in a couple of hours. You may have been the victim of your co-workers childish acts stating they had "friends who told them about nuTsie", etc., and thus the notice of the several usernames from the same IP. They posted in multiple areas of this forum, and thus their ban.

You are clear, go in peace.
