Please Login to Remove!

I simply reinstalled the DST patch to the 8100, pulled the battery and rebooted. The patch appeared at Options > Applications, and the time was correct.

I'm calling RIM right now (thank you T-Support!).

My Sprint 8830 should not require the patch, and it didn't help even when I installed it (I have removed it).

Now it's just buggin me.

For us, it seems perhaps the patch works, but the Calendar is still an hour off. We checked our BES & updated it to the last hotfix, but still nothing. And our Exchange is up to date as well.

Rep comes back online..... Ma'am? What do you have your Date/Time Source set to? Blackberry, but it doesn't matter if I have it set to that or to Network.

Have you connected it to your computer in the last couple of days to sync it maybe? No, everything is wireless, I rarely connect it, except to do a backup. Oh, well, I thought maybe it picked up the wrong time from your PC.....

Um...well, that is very strange. Do you mind if I put you back on hold so that I can keep researching this for you?

Hehehehehe

My newer bb's are working fine. But... a few XP boxes that had MS's DST patch applied last year still came up with the time change. Others didn't. Ironically, the few that did were using MS's time server, not in house NTP servers. Possible that bb time is sync'ing with workstations/BES/ntp severs w/incorrect time? Just a thought since seeing inconsistent behavior between devices.

Here's what they are having me do to test that my Sprint 8830 (w/ OS 4.2.2.123) has the patch and that it is working properly:

Manually change the date/time to Nov 4th, 12:59am. Wait for 1 hour and 1 minute and see what happens. If it rolls to 2:00am, then the patch is either not working properly or somehow is not on this device. If it rolls back to 1am, then the patch is working properly and there is something else going on.

Tick tock, tick tock.....

We all use Pearls here (which are not working correctly), so it could be just specific devices.. We have all our servers set to the navy.mil time servers, and that's all sync'd correctly.. So if we send a calendar event in Outlook, it comes up an hour behind on the BB. Who knows.. If it were just me using it, I'd wait a week, and everything would be fine, but in our environment, we can't. So hopefully there's a patch quick!

Dismal failure. My device changed from 1:59am to 2:00am...did not change back to 1:00am. Called RIM back and they are going to have me follow the steps in this KB article:

http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/searc...200%2033569251

Seems a little extreme...but will try it and see if it helps.

Cool Dst

They gave me those steps too but since I have old 4.1 OS BBs doing this it seems somehow unrelated.

Let us know how it goes.

That KB is for device OS 4.2 only.... I had a b*tch of a time getting the file to save after deleting the time zones from the backed up file. DTM would freeze up and would render the backup file useless.

On step 12 now....

It worked!

Let me list all of the steps - I deviated slightly...

1. Remove the BlackBerry device user account from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Select Yes to remove all existing BlackBerry data if prompted.

2. On the BlackBerry device, browse to Options > Advanced Options > Service Books.

3. Delete all Desktop [<service book name>] and all BlackBerry [<service book name>] service books.

4. Connect the BlackBerry device to BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.

5. Perform a FULL backup of the BlackBerry device data.

Here is where I started deviating: Due to DTM locking up... I then closed DTM, disconnected my device, made a copy of the backup file, and then continued.

6. Launch Desktop Manager, double-click Backup and Restore. Click File/Open and open the original backup file. Click Advanced.

I skipped this step
7. In the Device Databases pane, select Time Zones and click the Left Arrow between the panes.

And continued here
8. In the Desktop File Databases pane, select Time Zones and click Delete.
Click Close.

9. When asked whether to save changes, click Yes.

10. Perform a security wipe on the BlackBerry device.

11. Restore the backup file you created in Step 4.

I then closed DTM and disconnected my device from my PC.

12. Add the BlackBerry device user to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

13. Activate the BlackBerry device.

The Date/Time is now correct and stays correct when I click Update Time.

A long process to fix it, but it worked.

How would I do this if I don't have access to the BES? This seems way overboard for this type of problem.

Your BES Admin will have to help if you do not have access to the BES.

Default On 4.1 OS?

And ... would it work on 4.1 OS BB's?

I'm hoping RIM addresses this with a patch.

Smile Downloaded Patch Worked

I just followed this link BlackBerry , clicked on download, then waited for it to complete. Afterwards, it said that it was installed, but I had to pull the battery out and put it back in to fix the time.

This was on a Blackberry Pearl.
