I was wondering, can you select addresses from your contacts or would you have to type these destinations manually?

With the newest version, yes. I am using MapQuest Navigator and when I log in to the program I choose the Where To? button. On of the options on the following screen is Search Contacts. Type in a contact and it will pull the address from the address book. You can then set that address as the destination.
