I talked to Verizon Customer Service the other day and the lady did not know anything about the curve coming out but she did tell me that April is when Verizon releases new phones. April is one of the Big Phones releases for the company. Take that for what it is worth. Sometimes I think I should just switch to AT&T so I can get a new phone when it comes out and not a year plus later. Just my 2 cents.

CDMA devices (starting with the 8130) are newer devices/advanced over their GSM counterparts

I agree with you but GSM seems to get the devices sooner. I am holding my breath for an April release cause I so very much want a curve.

Also, the licensing involved with CDMA manufacturing is considerably more prohibitive. Thank Qualcomm.

My personal opinion is this phone is only worth it with Rev. A. At least give us something to want it more than the GSM/EDGE Curve. (I realize EVDO Rev. O is faster, but not nearly fast enough for me when put into the perspective that this phone will be released a year later on CDMA. It will also be coming on the heels of the next generation GSM Blackberry's)

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8130: BlackBerry8130/4.3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

While I agree that I it takes entirely too long for the CDMA versions of phones to be released, my 8130 is light-years better than my 8100 was. Not being first to market is not necessarily a bad thing.

you will not notice that much difference unless downloading large files over Rev A. Rev 0's top speed is still PLENTY fast for normal browsing and email downloads. you will notice a difference on Rev A for upload though.

For me it is tethering that is the make or break. From a phone standpoint EDGE, EVDO, HSDPA are pretty much the same for my uses.

VZW Reps came to my office to try to earn our BB business. I asked one of the managers when VZW would see the Curve. He said 2 - 3 Weeks. Was this hype? Maybe, time will tell.

Nice try they would release a curve and then cannibalize the sales with a 9000 series right behind it. There is no point to this madness.

Check out the boy genius report..... Hes got some new pictures of the sprint curve with a total memory on the device being around 83 MB. This should help with memory leaks

Normally I would tend to agree with you but, these devices are for two different types of consumers. I don't think their would be any cannibalization with the two devices. With the 8703e going away the 9000 would slide right in it's place. But as we all know time will tell the real story.
