First, this is not the thread for the 8120. Also, this is not a thread for 4.5.0.51. These numbers matter so be sure you are downloading the proper files.

Need some advice. I went to update my wifes Pearl 8100 and didn't realize I forgot to remove the vendor.xml file. I also didn't realize we didn't have an SD card in her phone. Non the less. Everything for 4.5 loaded perfect except for the video function. So, I took my SD card from my Curve, tried to re-download 4.5 and upgrade, but it won't give me the video function. It just says, no updates needed and no changes occur. I don't even know how to downgrade her back to 4.2 then upgrade again. Also, is it a bad idea to put my SD card in her phone? Should I just wait and get her one? Should the video function upgrade with 4.5 even if there isn't a card in the phone at the time? Any advice.

The 8100 does not have the video record function on any OS.

Using the FAQ on downlgrading, I found: How do I downgrade the OS on my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ

OK. That solves that. Does it matter that I forgot to remove the vendor file? Will that cause any problems.?

No, it doesn't matter. Removing the vendor.xml file is usually required for an OS release from a carrier, otherwise your OS won't load. In this case, I don't know why it did load other than maybe this OS is not vendor-coded for some reason.

I would say look at your Options > About or ALT + EACE screen and see if the OS installed does indeed match the one you think you loaded.

Cool. I looked on her applications and it did load 4.5 OS. So We are good. Thanks for the help.

I can't wait to try these. I've been using 4.2.1 series but since the camera problem is fixed and this seems quite stable (I guess not entirely) I'll be sure to try this.

artmika, in WordToGo, upgrade to the next release on D2G, and you will get SheetsToGo included. Not the premium or pay release, just the next free release.

Having an issue.....my Work email allows me to Send and Reply to emails on my BB Pearl just fine. But I can not Send or Reply to email from my personal email on my BB. I hit compose email and it used to give me the option of which email account i want the email to be sent from. It no longer does. I receive emails just fine though. Did not have this problem on previous OS. Any Ideas?

Finally got OS .55 loaded up and running smoothly.

I was having issues with the media card with the .dat files. Even though I went thru the media card and re-formatted it after getting rid of all the .dat files, the phone was still constantly re-booting on me.

Took me a while to narrow the issue down to a few videos that I kept trying to re-install on the media card. My guess is since they were created with a 4.2 based program, they were interfering with the new OS. (?) Regardless, once I took them out of the loop, the phone has been working well with the new OS.

The media section is much cleaner as compared to 4.2, and I really like the addition of a voice note recorder, as well as Word/Slideshow to Go. The OS as a whole seems to be much cleaner looking.

It was a painful install at first (error 507, constant reboots, etc..) and almost reverted back to 4.2, but now that I sorted out the issues, I'm starting to like it. ;)

On the previous beta 4.5OS, the white balance was not working on the cameras. This has been fixed on this release.

I have a BB Pearl, I'm with T-Mobile and want to do an update. What is the best procedure, to just do an update through Desktop Manager or Should I wipe the BB and install from scratch? If I do this, how do I set it backup to work with my provider T-Mobile? Thanks in advance.
Mark.
