Appreciate your effort in developing this X-Media player for BB. I'm looking for a media player that has more function than the built in one. I tried the X-player, it was very slow, much slower than the OEM, and it could not read my video files .3gp and .mp4.
So far I deleted it and waiting for your improved version.
Thanks

Hello wiliam00,

Thank you for your feedback.
Please note that files are to be converted for the playback in xPlayer. There are a lot of BlackBerry converters for this purpose.
Could you please denote what do you mean by "it was very slow".
What OS version are you running?

We will surely mention your comments when improving the software!
Thanks&regards,
Irene

Just to throw it out, if you have your music on a Media Card and you encrypt the media files there is a bit of a delay for the BlackBerry to access the files, program works pretty fast for me (of course I just use the shortcuts at this point )

I converted all my songs to .mp3 format and it still does skip forward to the next song, it happens pretty randomly I could go a day without it skipping and the next day it will skip every other song.

Default Little late in the game but...

Wow awsome player but I have version 1.0.1 think its the newest and it does not move the numbers just stays at zero. Am I wrong or was this supposed to be fixed by this version I read the whole thread very intreaging. And also I can't use the slidebar to navigate music or video. Like others have stated. I see that there's been a gap between newposts to this thread hope the app is still in operation. And Bluetooth works with my s9's but it spuratic and most times when I get it to work it dies on a song change then goes to the built in speaker. If I tweek it disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth it will most times work.
Here's to hopeing its still in operation. It really is a nice APP.

Wirelessly posted

I have 1.01 and the time increments when playing. The previous version didn't. Have you checked the About option to see if you really have 1.01?

I think if you uninstall it then you lose any playlists you've entered, so you might want to reconsider if you've got heaps and don't want to lose them.

What sort of phone do you have - perhaps that matters? I have an 8800. OS version might matter too - I have 4.2.1.101.

I wish one could advance the song position with what you call the slidebar, but as far as I can tell it's just a position indicator, not something you can adjust. I'd particularly like it if I could configure a playlist entry to skip, say, the first 10 seconds every time that track is played.

I noticed this morning that sound was coming from my speaker rather than my (wired) headphones. I'm going to check the output device selected in the Settings option when I get time. Have you tried that?

I recall that earlier versions could revert to speaker when the phone rang.

Personally, I don't think this is a particularly good app, but it seems to be the best around, far better than the built in app. I suspect the developers are severely restricted by what the Blackberry API allows them to do, and by bugs in it, so I'd blame RIM for that as much as the developers. It's certainly much better than the earlier versions.

Hello djxedxd,

We really have fixed the counter. Please reinstall the application.
Also the slidebar cannot actually be moved, xPlayer doesn't support that.

BR,
Irene

Do you know if the API will actually ever allow it to support it?

I have converted a season of The Office to mp4 for my 8830. The regular media player plays them perfect. This one does not. The audio is fine, but the video is choppy and lags behind. Does this player not like large video files?

Thanks in advance,

TreeDude, unfortunately we cannot work this issue. We could have done some small changes if your OS was 4.3, but as it is not, we are helpless.

May be if you try converting your files with some other converter, xPlayer would play the file better, but this is just a suggestion...

The files in question are in mp4 because that is what the built in player prefers. They are between 70mb and 140mb. They are a ton smaller than the original AVIs I had them in (those 70md files were 170mb before). I did some cleanup on my apps and removed some OS features that eat up RAM (voice activated dialing being the main one) and the files now play fine for about 15 seconds, then they start freezing up. So that tells me it is a memory management issue. Looks as though your player eats up more memory than the built in player.

I guess I will wait till Verizon releases 4.3 (or they skip it for 4.5) and try it again.

Does anyone know of a media player that would work on BB that allows you to scroll through a track?

Hello, frindajm, Mobiola xPlayer can fast forward and rewind using the trackball of your BlackBerry. It works on all OS 4.2, 4.3, 4.5 and 4.6. You can download xPlayer for free at Mobiola xPlayer :: BlackBerry :: Download or wap.shapeservices.com. BTW, xPlayer has an additional option of Live Radio, this feature requires a license, all other functionality is free.
