I also get an audible when I clear the chat log even though I've set the profile to silent.

I tried installing OTA and I am able to get to the download page but when I try and download I get this message:

"907 invalid COD, unable to import zip file"

Kai suggested trying a desktop install but I don't have my USB cable with me. Can anyone help?

Did you try to install the program thru OTA with the incorrect URL?

I believe you can either install it thru desktop, or OTA.

Can you borrow a USB cable? buy one? or have someone to email you the jad file?

not sure if this will work. just a thought:

Download the file to your desktop
transfer the file to your microSD card using a Card reader
install it through your microSD card

maybe I think too much...

Default Fix available for Blank Screen and StringIndexOutOfBounds Errors

We have a patch available that should solve both the blank screen in chat window and the StringIndexOutOfBounds errors.

As previously discussed on this thread, the problem seems to be with a bug in the underlying BlackBerry OS. The problem goes away with the latest 4.1 OS, at least for the 8700 series devices.

However, since many of you are on older models or cannot upgrade the OS for various reasons, we've put together a workaround. The chat screen UI will be slightly different, but it should work.

We will send out the install link to the beta distribution list shortly. If you're not on the distro. list, please email support.

Kai,

Thanks for the download. I'll try it this weekend and I'm already excited of the possibilities from reading this thread.

Thanks again and more power to you!

Kai, thanks for the download. I have been using the prog since you sent me the link. I love it. I have only used version 5.20 and I like everything about it. I only have one suggestion for my use....I like the tone/LED/ringer notification feature, but would like it better if it were only on the initial message. In verichat I had the option to have it sound when the prog was in the background and not when I was actually using it.

I like the sound to notify me, but while I am typing I don't need the sound anymore for each message sent. Hopefully that feature can be added. In verichat they had several options in the "edit profiles" area.

I think as long at they make it an option and dont just change it that might be nice.

I like the tones all the time as a lot of time I put the phone down and do other things or put the Pearl in a pocket until the next sound.

Kai, thanks so much for being so thorough about developing this program and helping those of us with problems!

I just installed the most recent version OTA. I entered my username and password, but then the program got stuck on "Logging In..." I waited about five minutes and tried to escape out of the program but none of the keys work. Removed battery, relaunched program, and it immediately went to "Logging in..." screen and got stuck again.

Any suggestions?

The Beta was closed a few days back and I dont think anyone new can sign in. Maybe thats what happens when they try. Just a guess though and its supposed to reopen soon.

You might let the developer know your model and OS installed.

Great looking program. A couple of quick questions.

When I am logged in, my screen name shows up under the "Available" tab but my other online buddies show up under the "Buddies" tab. Is there anyway to get them to show up under one or the other?

Are there any plans to be able to allow you to see other peoples away messages and/or profiles? How about other peoples online/idle times?

With the patched version of .20 I am still having a problem with the chat window still. I am not StringIndexOutOfBounds Errors anymore which is great. I was using 4.1.0.380 which is the latest version and I was getting the same problem but I had to downgrade my os to .241 because of an unrelated radio issue.

I still can use it but I have to go into the chat history to see when someone responds but I must say it is still better than any other BB IM software and this one is still in Beta.

Great work.

For some reason I am not able to edit the last post but I wanted to say that the workaround works perfectly on my 7520. The support team has been absolutely awsome in supporting this product. I would definately pay for a program that is this great during beta testing and offers extremely helpful support as most have noticed.

Thanks for the program. I like the idea of it alot.

I am still having issues with the "string index out of range:-1" even after downloading the updated patch earlier today. I'm using OS .284, so maybe it's just not compatible at all. I went to the tmo bbupgrade site but haven't been able to download the newer OS after about 20 tries over the past week.

Question for those who are using, is it possible to send a text to someone w/out having to hit the scrollwheel and then click send? I'm kind of used to just pressing enter to send a message.

are you sure you removed your previous install before updating with the patch. check to see if you have 2 jivetalk icons.

the normal behavior with the unpatched version is to send with enter. with the patched version, you edit in a different text field and have to select send to send.
