Greetings all... I hope someone out there has run into the same problem I am having. Just finished upgrading my T-Mobile 8100 to 4.5.0.55. It took two tries as I neglected to remove the Vendor.xml file and re-format the SD card the first time around. All is well now, and this new environment definitely breathes new life into my Pearl.

I have however run into one problem... whenever I try to go to Hotmail from MSN Mobile I get an error stating that full WAP 2.0 support is required. This worked fine on 4.2.1.107 and while I realize that I could just setup this account as one of my email accounts, I prefer using the hotmail environment as it gives me access to all of my saved folders, contacts, etc.

Any ideas?

I just reloaded this version from scratch, and I noticed that when I get an email, the LCD backlight comes on for about 3 or 4 seconds, then turns off. I have NEVER seen this behaviour before. And I never even thought this was possible. I looked through the options and don't see anything that applies to this. I have been running this OS for a while, but the last load was an "upgrade" type installation, while today was a fresh install after wipe.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Alright, I reloaded .55, and this time it worked. I configured it just the way I like it. I enabled HTML emails, and I played with the camera a little. I'm very pleased. It looks like this one's a winner...and my previous complaints were clearly user error.

Have a splendid evening.

Just loaded up 4.5.0.55 everything seems to be working well, I like the HTML emails, I have been out of the loop and didn't even know I could get that.

Wirelessly posted (T-Mobile 8100)

This is really weird. I'm still getting the backlight turning on when I receive an email. I sent a few test emails to myself and it happens every time. Is this happening for anyone else?

Default Battery and Red LED

Has anyone else noticed poor battery life with 4.5.0.55. I went from 100% battery to 80% with the phone in standby on my way in about 45min time. Also, does anyone know how to disable the LED from staying solid red while on a phone call. Also, the color trackball has been removed. Thanks in advance!

Default AT&T Pearl and OS 4.5 problems

I was running 4.5.0.52 on an AT&T Pearl that was provisioned for BES. Every time the service books would refresh (i.e. Advanced Options->Host Routing Table->Register Now) the PROVISIONING service book would flip-flop between BESPRV-NA (which is required for BES access) and PRV URLs (which only allows internet, not BES).

I called AT&T and they got RIM involved and RIM's handheld support copped out and said "Sorry, we can't support version 4.5 on the handheld since AT&T hasn't released it." In any event, it is a reproduceable problem so keep it in mind before upgrading users to 4.5 on the Pearl if they are on the BES.

Edit: Downgraded to 4.2 and the "problem" remained with the flip-flopping service books. I called RIM support back and got a knowledgable person on the phone who said the PROVISIONING service book only dictates whether or now the "Enterprise Activation" icon shows on the main screen. It has nothing to do with whether or not the back-end routing works for BES access - you can only verify that information by calling your wireless carrier or RIM.

Battery pull killed this. Not happening anymore. Must have been some kind of glitch. I was starting to like it.....

I'm trying to upgrade to this version now, and I'm not sure if it's working.
My phone has been completely lit up for almost an hour, and the screen shows a drawing of a phone & a computer on it. Is this what it's supposed to do? I've only upgraded once before, and it was awhile ago, so I can't remember if this is how it's supposed to work. Any suggestions?

Were you talking to me? I just unplugged it, because it's been lit up and doing nothing for 2hrs. It went right back to the main screen like I did nothing, and still has the old OS on it. I'm not sure what's wrong.

Disregard my comments about the backlight coming on when a message is received. Turns out it has nothing to do with the OS. It had to do with a new option in pocket day beta that I loaded after the OS upgrade, and I just now found.

It requires a service book in order to work. Some carriers don't send the service book. Go to Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table. Hit menu and select Register Now.

The 8100 does not support video recording. All the other models do, though.

The phone will be slow for a while, while it scans the media card. Once it's done with that it will speed up some.
