It doesn't solve the EDGE issues but it does solve the UMA issues. I have a nice stable UMA all the time.

I tried the .18/.10 setup last night, and maybe it wasn't a good night for it with the uma problems of last night.

I experienced lowercase "uma" all night, dropped calls and lost audio. Overall it was a disaster, and I wiped the 8320 and went pure .18, which is where I am now without the catastrophic problems of last evening.

I probably need another phone to beta test with, as doing so s I did yesterday (.37/.10 .18/.10/ really impacted my normal communications. Anybody want to donate a phone to the cause, please let me know!!

It is also probable that the process was a part of the resultant situation or external problems with uma. Today, pure .18, I have caps UMA and no other issues all day(KOW - for "knock on wood").

.37/.10 = no good.

.18/.10 = good.

I've had this setup for quite some time...It's the only setup that gives a stable UMA. The newer platform version drops wifi/uma contantly and it doesn't come back without a reboot, usually.

app ver: 4.5.0.18
platform ver: 2.7.0.40

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is everyone using to determine the memory leak? Is there a debugging app that can be installed, or are you looking at statistics somewhere in options?

Look at your available memory under Status I'm guessing. If it slowly goes down over time then you've got a leak.

All BB OS's do this. Some are worse than others and some apps cause it worse than others.

In my case (when I had the leak using .10), it would shut off randomly and erase all my sms and call logs. It started to happen 2-3 times a day. It got too frustrating so I decided to use .18 (with the .10 radio file) and I havent had a "leak" since.

But in most cases, as John Clark says, even a stable BB will have some leaks. That is why with BB's and most Smart Phones, you'll want to do a battery pull every couple days or so. More often than that if you are a heavy user.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

I've not experienced any deleted messages with any of the 4.5 OS's. Its all about free memory and the 3rd party apps running.

Okay, just found out that with my setup, I cannot send MMS while on wifi. I have to do it over EDGE.

Hi,

I have 8100 pearl, I'm currently using 4.5.0.18 and its rock stable from 4.5.0.10. I also have downloaded 4.5.0.37 but have not yet installed it. Does anyone know if .37 is much different or any better?

I can only speak for myself. I went from .10 to .18 and now have .37 and I see improvements so far so good for the first week since I installed .37

I would love to go to .37, however, UMA is broken. Being my current setup (.18 with .10's radio file), I think I may go back to 4.2.2.180. It obviously doesnt have youtube or video, but its rather stable and I wont have my BT voice dialing or MMS over UMA issues.

We'll see...

.18 was horrible for me as far as edge/EDGE network issues. It also gave those unsightly red exclamation marks on every message demanding a reply be sent. .37 fixed that and the network issues I was having. It also runs a lot faster for me. The Media Player scanning bug is gone too. The only issue I have is one that I also had on .18 which is a random Hourglass appearance and freezing for a min or so. It's really annoying, but I just wish there was some way to see what it's doing during that time.

Default ESPN Quick Launcher

i just upgraded to .37 on my 8310 and now my ESPN shortcut on my home screen doesn't show the "E" anymore. it shows a little black box. the shortcut still works but the tiny pic isn't there. has anyone else had this issue and if so, have you found a way to fix it?

this is my only "issue" with .37. other than that, much better than .10 and .18.

thanks!

Yes, I've been missing call logs and was curious what was causing that with .18.

Not sure if this would fix this problem, but others have reported issues with their home screens not behaving as they should...

Follow the instructions here and see if it fixes the problem:

EDIT: So over the weekend and counting today. I have had 4 auto-reboots.

So just realizing that I use UMA for calls, but they arent free as I dont pay for the T-Mobile Unlimited calling feature. In .37, how is UMA broke? Can I still receive calls?
