hey all,

i also am having trouble connecting to plus services.

the login script doesn't work as typed.

however, i noticed that when going through the process to use my pearl as a modem with a dial up connection on my laptop, when prompted to enter the additional login script within the properties of the modem I noticed that the login script is slightly different.

it does not include the --> at in the begining and also there is an extra comma right before --> ,,"wap.voicestream.com

can anyone confirm this?

also if anyone has had success with the set up and would share some insight that would be great.

btw - im on tmobile in Los Angeles, CA if it matters

big ups for the help

WHERE DO YOU INPUT THE BELOW SCRIPT??? IN THE PHONE (AND IF SO WHERE ON THE PHONE??) OR IN THE TOMTOM (AND IF SO WHERE IN THE TOMTOM???)

Do you want to obtain your IP address automatically (DHCP) or do you want to setup your IP address manually? : Automatic

Do you want to obtain your DNS server address automatically or do you want to setup your DNS server address manually? : Automatic

Dial: *99#

Login Script: at+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"

Boom your in.

Also make sure your TCP is set to wap.voicestream.com, I.e.
On Blackberry, Options>Advanced Options>TCP>APN:wap.voicestream.com

I can get my Pearl to pair with the 910 and do handsfree calling but it wont do any of the plus services. I have palyed around with all the settings and no joy. Mabey we should start an email petition to get those guys at TomTom to sort this out...

I have also tried this but I use cingular.
These are the settings I have tried.

Setting on laptop that work.
APN: leave blank
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Number to dial: *99#
Modem Initialization string - +cgdcont=1,"IP","WAP.CINGULAR"

As I said this works with my laptop but not on the 910. I have also tried many different variables including.

APN: wap.cingular
Username: [email address]
Password: CINGULAR1
Number to dial: *99#
Modem Initialization string - +cgdcont=1,"IP","WAP.CINGULAR"

If anyone figures this out, please let me know. I even when as far as upgrading the OS on my phone to the latest version and still no go.

Tomtom allows a user to connect to their traffic servers to download live traffic information via a mobile phone connection. The GPS will route around traffic jams or accidents. It's a very nice feature if you live in a major city or if you travel a lot.

I have tried this with the latest version of the Tomtom software also and still cannot get it to work. The Blackberry 8100 is listed as a compatible phone but I can't get any connection to work.

If anyone figures this out, please share with the rest of us disappointed Tomtom users.

Thanks,
Doug

I would suggest that everyone that has a BlackBerry Pearl 8100v opens a support ticket with TomTom. Maybe if they get a lot of requests they will start supporting it.

In the latest version of the GPS software the application shows the BB 8100 as a supported device. I noticed that the credentials they are using are incorrect but if you change them it still doesn't work.

It's just not going to work... not with the current release of the handheld OS. RIM doesn't allow third party devices access to wireless data services via bluetooth or USB. That's just how it is until RIM makes a change :(

Is that really true? I thought a number of people were using the 8100 as a modem on their PC. I assume mostly through USB. Is anyone using it via bluetooth with a PC?

I just spoke to a service support from TOMTOM and the Pearl will not work for TT Plus data. No explanation given.

I spoke to TomTom tech support and they told me that RIM is not letting them connect to data service. So I guess that would be an explanation why it's not working - if it's true.
