So for those of us who never, ever install any 3rd party apps (I'm in the minority), is the 7130c a thumbs up or down, as a phone, build quality, etc?

I have Pocketday, Opera Mini, and Berry 411 installed - running on a BES and running a personal mail BIS through Cingular for - with absolutely no problems. The average person will not install a third of these applications. Lets put this in perspective.

The 7130c is FINE!

I most likely will be using only those along with a few others, so I should be ok, correct? If so, I'm ready to upgrade.

How come people experiencing different issues? Aren't they all using the same OS version(the phone just came out) ? or could it be the hardware itself.

They were on mine.

What impact that'll have on billing I have no idea.

Honestly that's not fair to say.

I've had two of them.

The first one in addition to giving me the "too many apps error" developed a strange line going up and down the screen after a few hours.

The second one also gave me the "too many apps error."

Now it could be related to one of the apps I've installed but there's no way to tell. Once I got it after installing only four apps. Another time I didn't get it I had installed 8.

Also, both of them had issues fully completing Enterprise Activation. On the most recent one I had to do the activation several times to get it to complete properly.

Maybe it's a conflict with having an 8700 already on my PC or something.

I just don't know.

I do finally have mine up and running. All the apps are installed and my Enterprise Activation is completed. I do know how to solve the issue if it happens again (which it's sure to if I install a third party app.)

Neither Cingular or RIM supports issues related to third party applications so there's not going to be any help for this issue.

All I can say is if you want the 7130c, get it and try it out. If you don't experience any issues during the return period, great, keep it. But just be on the look out for some of the issues I'm having.

It just seems very odd to me that I could be the only person with the device who's having issues, especially since I've had issues on TWO of them. Could it just be a bad batch was delivered to my local Cingular store?

Maybe.

Just write it and post it.

One of the moderators will then review it and if it meets BB Forums standards it'll remain in the reviews forum.

I do plan on writing a review of the 7130 but want to use if for about a week first before doing so.

Many Cingular customers are and were being charged for accessing the WAP APN. BIS users need access to this APN for any third party application which needs a data connection.

Now it seems Cingular is finally starting to include it in everyone's plan. Providing your plan is set up and provisoned properly.

Thanks for the explanation. Not an issue with Rogers; they screw users equally on all kinds of data.
