Cingular ... also i plan on going from 8700c to 8700g with T-mobile ... any thoughts from current 8700g users as to its overall quality and signal / performance with T-mobile ..... thankx in advance for your words of advice
I'm a Cingular customer (and a former T-Mobile customer) in NYC, and I love my Cingular BB service - it's one of the only ones that actually works as advertised.

True dubdub. Sometimes it is better to get the phone with service from a friend or neighbor to test it out in areas where you work, live, travel, etc. Otherwise, the person can always test the 14 day trial at T-Mobile or the 30 day trial at Cingular.

I concur with Dubdub & phillyslickster. I'm with T-Mobile BIS in NYC & overall, I'm happy with the service. I do lose signal when I go deep inside my office building, certain movie theatres, & when I visit family in Briarwood (turns out they're in the fringe area according to the TMO compass). No problems roaming in Toronto either (I added the Blackberry International Roaming option for that--no extra charges for running Yahoo Messenger, or PocketDay's data connections).

I guess what I'm getting at is for the short periods I don't have service, I'm willing to make the tradeoff for the customer service & lower price. Cingular's new $29.99 BIS does look like an attractive alternative, but I'm wary of Cingular charging extra for "non-Blackberry" specific data that I use a lot, like IM+, PocketDay, & Idokorro Mobile Desktop. I hear conflicting reports of whether or not it's covered under the plan.

In the fine print on the Cingular website, it says that 3rd parties aren't covered under the unlimited data with Cingular. The thing is some people get charged and others don't.

I am no where near NY, but I will give you my 2 cents. One, I have Tmo, overall I would reccomend them to anyone. Great service, great price. I get signal everywhere I go, Iowa, Washington, Florida.

Now, Cingular... sevral people I work with have Cingular. Just found out from one they got a copy of the terms from Cingular when they disputed the amount of a bill. Basicly it said if you pay it, you agree its right and can not dispute it. One person, who had not paid the incorrect bill, had to email the heads of Cingular to get a response. They also get a lot of dropped calls, and very bad service. I would advise people to stay away from Cingular.
