Lady behind the counter tried to pass off an open box unit as 'new' and then when I brought it back in to exchange it, she said "uhh, I need your IMEI on your old AT&T phone, and your old AT&T phone number" -- I was like "What for" she says "we cant sell you the new phone without your old IMEI, we need to activate your new phone before you leave the store" and I was like "I don't want to give you my old IMEI" and she was like "well then I can't sell you the phone then"
Ok - guess I will just get it from another Cingular store since there are no AT&T wireless stores any more. on second thought, perhaps I won't - after that great 'customer experience' I'll probably just switch providers in general. I've been hearing so many great things about the customer service since the "merger" that I think now would be a good time to be leaving Cingular/ATT... too bad.
