I just went to the "Setup Internet email" and clicked on send service books. All service books related to emails came down fine. Is there a specific service book that I should be looking for?
Still I don't see any push email for any other account other than my yahoo mail.
For browsing I only have one option and that is "Download Fun" from T-Mobile, I am able to browse the internet using that.
Google local and map is also working fine.
What does this mean?

Problem I had is that I couldn't access "Setup Internet e-mail" (or any other browser related function) to do this.

Just curious.
Did you have a blackberry plan before ?
I am not sure about this but would like to know if others have also tried this.

Yes, have been on a Blackberry plan for about 2 1/2 years. the BES stuff worked fine, but Internet access was a no-go.

All POP emails are supported so I would say why not.
Good luck.
So can you please clarify for me what exactly you did to seemingly make near everything work? What service books are you using? Who provided the service books?

My knowledge in this is quiet limited but anyway here is what I did..
  1. Unlocked the 7130c
  2. Did a backup of my 8700
  3. Did a restore to 7130
  4. turned wireless on and hit "Register Now" under the Host routing table and then went to "Setup my Internet mail"
  5. Sent all Service Books to the handset
  6. Reset the handset by taking the battery out
  7. Tested all the functions
  8. Had to use Application loader for Yahoo Messenger and Google Talk

That is all I did... Except for the browser (workaround is to use the "Download Fun" browser from T-mobile) I pretty much have everything working.

Am I the only one who has this working?

I use the Desktop redirector for my work email, which is working fine. I am not on BES.

Also, people who have polled for partially operational, can you please let us know what is missing?

Initially, I had my corporate e-mail (BES) and my Internet e-mail ( Comcast and BB.net), but no Browser access through any icon or hot key. After a reboot, I lost it all. I have checked all settings, wiped and resynced. My BES admins insist they see data moving to the handset via the server. I am convinced that I may just have a dog handset at this point. Probably shouldn't take my personal experience as gospel.

Question

I'm on tmobile, and have the 7100t since Oct 2004. I'm about ready to break down and get the 7130c from cingular and unlock it to use with tmobile. To those of you that have sucessfully got it to work with tmoble, does the Oz IM client get pushed down to the device since you're using tmobile or is the Oz client device specific? I'm not really all that concerned about the Oz client, as I can/will configure the IM services on the phone in text form anyway, but it's nice to have something to see graphically once in a while.
Basically, what I want to do is buy it outright, unlock it, completely wipe the handheld and reload the os with the hong kong csl version, (I'm making a couple of modifications to a few alx files, if you're wondering why I'd want to reload), then register the bb from the BIS website, and push the service books to the device.
Have I left anything out? I'm kind of aware that I might not get the browser icon pushed to the device based on the comments faltoo made. AFAIK, he's the only one who mentioned that he got pretty much everything working and according to the polls, 2 others have said they got complete functionally as well but haven't spoke up as to how they managed to do so or what might be missing, etc etc.

Any comments are welcome.

Are the service books generally specific to the device models, as I have a 7100t and am considering getting the data plan to be able to send an receive mms amongst other things, but acording to t-mobile uk the 8700 supports mms but the 7100 does not and seeing this makes me think that if there device specific i wont get mms, and i migh not get anything when i find a 7130g/c that will make it to this country.

The OZ client is specific to T-Mobile. You would have to change your software version to T-Mobile approved SW to get OZ. Probably less pain to get your IM via one of the many Third Party resources thatare listed in this forum. Do a search, you'll find some impressive stuff.

Not necessarily. I just put my sim from a tmobile 7100t to my unlocked 7130c within 5-10 minutes it downloaded the IM client from tmobile and then I was able to use the yahoo, AIM just like that.

Now that's an answer I like to hear, at least one of them. If only I can get confirmation that I can/will get a browser icon to go with that, then I'm good to go.
