it wouldn't be the difference - you can take an unlocked 8100 and, with the software available from TMO, enable PTT.

I have played around with the Cingular pearl and didn't notice any cosmetic differences.

cingular 8100 will get a cosmetic change, its gona be more of a silverish look and a little bit of black with some shape diffrnces too, ive seen it from a friend that works at RIM and personally i think the black housing looks much nicer.

Is this all just spec????

I mean, it seems like everyone else on the web is saying that it will be 2007.
Last news on this did say that the 81xx on Cingular would have PTT enabled.

Hey, Nov 14? I'll take it! just want to know for sure.
It will be great to have the 8100 until we can get that 8800!!!!!

When that 8800 comes out, I'm going qwerty!!!!!

I've seen the Cingular version and it IS cosmetically different.

I saw it at a launch party for the Pearl for Rogers. I didn't care much to ask about any differences in the technical specs

Default any way to remove camera?

I would like to figure out some way to remove the camera portion permanently, since i dont use the camera, and find myself sometimes going to buildings where they dont allow any camera phones. Anybody have ideas?

Simple way would be to create a new battery cover without the holes for the lense and the LED flash.

Then at least the lens would be covered and it wouldn't look like a camera phone.

Black electrical tape over the camera, but under the battery cover.
