Thanks.
If they upgraded their AXLoader to support Vendor and Device codes, then thats kind of interesting...

I have a 7520 and it didn't work for me either! Version 4.0.0.249 so I meet the criteria I would think!

Okay, it appears they have something wrong with their AXLoader application. It won't load from the webpage. I'm scouring the code now.

If you go directly to where the COD files would typically download from w/o the proper values, it gives an HTTP 500 error. If you replace YahooDownload with messenger from the below URL, it will atleast redirect you back to the entry.do page for BlackBerry Messenger. I just think they are missing some things, to be honest. Maybe they'll have it up tonight.

...and they are using the same exact version of AXLoader, as well, so as mentioned, I think they're most likely having issues due to the configuration not being complete (i.e. - some files could not be uploaded right now, or the code may be incorrect).

Says my device is not supported, when I have a 7520 with the latest software. Weird I will keep plugging away at it though.

I used to use yahoo IM through my tmobile browser on my 7230. However, I really like webmessenger a lot better. You have to pay for it but if you use IM a lot, it's worth it.

This is a new program that is being released by RIM in conjuction with Yahoo. It has been in the works for some time now and will allow you to use Yahoo messenger through your blackberry not through the web client, for free. you no longer have to pay for Verichat or Webmessenger, etc.
It will be great if it ever works

Rogers users can download it. I've got it downloaded to the simulator application. Now trying to get it off there. Once I do, I'll post it for the rest of you.

but he is able to download it, just unable to get the application working. i can't get the damned files off the simulator, so if any Rogers users want to hit me up, i can show you how to save the files from your handheld to your PC and then you can send to me (please...)...

Yes, would be great if it actually worked. Maybe they released it too soon before fixing all the bugs and pulled it back.
I really like yahoo IM. Would be nice when they actually get this up and running.

Hopefully their plan is to roll this out to other carriers soon. They're likely just staggering the launch to prevent their support group from becoming overwhelmed.
My concern is that some carriers may wish to charge for the privilege of using this software...thus the control.

Now that I've thought about it more....
Most carriers have aligned themselves with specific instant message providers. For example in Canada, Rogers and Yahoo have a partnership; Bell Mobility has an agreement with MSN.
It may be possible that we'll never see Yahoo on some carriers, as they may have an exclusivity agreement with another IM service.
The good news is that RIM plans to release IM on other platforms soon.
