JS thank you, that solved the problem. Now it works like a charm... The last thing to get my bb back to all the applications that matters to me was to bring backBB maps, but I followed the different solutions in this forum and no luck... Google Maps 2.3.1 should do the trick. Thank you again JS!!

Any way to make it so that holding down the send key goes directly to the address book in this version? I can still get there by pressing send once, then holding it down, but I definitely see myself accidentally calling people this way.

waksat, it is not the same, or it would have the identical version release number. Then it would not be an updated version, right?

There is no list. Just various bugs and glitches fixed.

Can you be any more specific about what you need? If you had to do a wipe and reload, you will need to simply install those third party applications again from start.

CSO--have you gotten a activation from your BES? You should need that to get the BES connection again. You may need to request from your BES admin.

why i ask is that when i've been doing OS upgrades before I've always had the option when you get to the DM section to tick the box for this software.

this time because I'd had to wipe the 3rd party software was not there in the app loader section.

so i asked the question to find if there was a way to go back and pick this up from somewhere in previous backups.

Yes I did, but reactivation is not the problem. I'm unable to restore my data to the device using desktop manager. All kinds of issues.

UPDATED: I have no idea what's happening here. BUT it's the samething that happended last night. I kept trying to restore. Wouldn't work, nothing happened. Tried for hours, disconnecting/reconnecting. And then suddenly upon reconnecting puff restoration works. Same as last night. I hadn't done anything.

Strange

thanks

Forgive if this has already been suggested... Are you perhaps using a USB hub? If you are, try connecting your BB to the PC using a physical USB port. Just a thought...

Good suggestion, always.

So, CSO, are you on the way to getting complete, again?

I am on .81 and I have the custom folders, from the OS load. Are they not included in this .81 stickied here?

I didn't do anything special to get them.

I can create 'custom' folders in the sense that I can make one and call it what I will... but no custom icon... just the basic black/white folder icon. Is the look perhaps theme controlled?

Actually no I wasn't using a hub, and the problem happened on two different computers: my lap top and then today my desktop.

And yes, I'm on my way toward being complete. Most of the information that was backed up successfully restored though some was either lost or didn't restore.

When I start typing an address, the address find function is actually working at all times (no difference between single press of send key or holding the key down).

If the letter pressed is also a number key you'll get the number and hear it's tone (pressing "s" emits a "4" tone), but you also see a "find" field below the entry, trying to search for that letter combination.

Once you begin typing a letter which does NOT correspond to a number, you'll see all the digits change over to letters.

So as I type "we" you will see "12" on the display, but as soon as I add "n", the display changes over to "Wen".

I never tried this with 4.2, so not sure if it had that type of behavior or not...

I am using one of the variants on the Bold theme (Mothy's BeBold Zen theme), and I only get one color choice - white on transparent black background.

Then again, I tried switching to the Dimension Zen and Dimension Icon themes and still no go.

Originally I thought it was theme controlled, but it may be that because I removed the background files, etc when I did the upgrade, that I lost the options there... I don't know for sure, and I certainly won't lose any sleep over it... but I was a bit curious...
