OK, to get rid of the image at the top (I think you are referring to) is called the Banner in the Theme Builder software. It's a mask that puts white pixels of varying opacity on top of the background image to enhance viewing of the little icons and indictors (battery, signal, time, etc.). You can change it or completely get rid of it by 1) modifying it in a image editing tool like Photoshop, 2) make one that is completely blank- that will remove it all together. In both cases, it needs to be the *exact size* specified in the Plazmic app manual (or the size of the original one in the Samples folder for your device in the Plazmic app folder).
The display is essentially a stack of 3 items: the background, the banner, and then the indicators/icons.
To make a background image that is not stretched, it needs to be the *exact* size specified in the Plazmic manaual (or the same size as the sample backgrounds). I think for the 7100-series that is 240x260, exactly.
You will need to export theme files from the Plazmic software to use them. This is a "compiled" version. For direct install, select ALX format (JAD is for over the air). Put them in a folder, like one specific on the desktop) for use with the next step- the Application Loader.
To load themes directly via USB (the best way during development time) is to install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager app on the PC. Plug the BlackBerry into the PC USB port, and launch the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Then, use the Application loader to find and install the files you exported from Theme Builder. If you keep iterating this modify-install process to perfect a theme, using the same folder on the desktop for the exported files makes the install easier becuase the BlackBerry Desktop Manager will see that you updated the files and automatically initiate the update process-- really a nice feature.
Hope that helps.
