Some countries would do just that. I'm glad we're not one of them. I can't imagine our naval personnel assigned to that ship sumarily executing someone. That is not in their job description.

Lol. I definitely agree with this. The commanders on the scene rightly deserve all the credit. Specifically our highly trained US Navy SEALS.

Maybe its time to redefine their job descriptions then.

And I dont think Obama had anything to do with the rescue. He did not give the order to fire or anything. So why should he get credit for anything. Hes to busy bowing to kings.

It'll never happen. At least I hope not. They have to face 'judge and jury' situations enough already in the line of fire. To ask them to execute unarmed enemy as part of their job would be asking too much.

Hey, it was a presidential order. To execute a plan to free the hostage. However the military personnel in the field deemed appropriate. He is the Commander in Chief. This is how it is and has been. No different for any president regardless of party. But as I have said, it was the military personnel in the field that deserve ALL the credit.

Check this out. Looks like it's Game On. They don't know who they're messing with. As Admiral Yamamoto once said, they are about to awaken a sleeping giant.

Pirates vow to kill U.S., French sailors - CNN.com

(CNN) -- Two pirates in Somalia vowed revenge Monday, after the U.S. military killed three pirates and freed a U.S. ship captain who had been held hostage for several days.

The pirates told a Somali journalist that they were angered by the U.S. action, as well as a French raid Friday that killed two pirates and one hostage and freed four hostages.

"We have decided to kill U.S. and French sailors if they happen to be among our future hostages," said Abdullahi Ahmed, a member of a pirate group based at Harardhere, a coastal town in central Somalia.

Not all orders roll out from the oval office.

I hope for the sake of those brave young soldiers that you are dead wrong on this one. It is one thing to kill in the line of duty; quite another to kill in cold blood.

No, but he gave authorization to pull the trigger when the people on the scene determined that it was necessary/appropriate. He could have forbidden action, if he had chosen to, but he did not. Just because he wasn't on the line does not mean that he did not authorize it, except perhaps to those who are so full of hate for the man that they will struggle to find anything to use to criticise him.

I don't like a lot of what he has done, some of which he has had to do and some of which is a continuation of the policies of GWB. Some is also of his doing. But to criticise him for this is very petty, even for you.

Of course not. But he has a say as Commander in Chief. He has, in fact, the final say. National security matters such as this one have many many layers of job junction. All the way from the Oval office to the Pentagon to other entities such as the Joint Chiefs, all the way down to the ship captain, then to the Navy SEALs on board. A nice joint effort. One that was successful this time.
