I can be counted amongst them. So can my girlfriend.

I have a theory: Verizon is great if you never move. Once you move, expect customer service nightmares. Happened to me in 2002 and to my girlfriend when she moved across the country in 2005. So as far as I know, Verizon always mucks up your account when you move. ;)

But why do threads that have nothing to do with Sprint service (or VZW service) have to go down that course. If I were the OP, I would be a bit upset with the direction the thread has gone.

Default Voice quality better?

One thing that has been obvious since I gave up the Verizon 8830 and got the Sprint 8830 is the sound quality when on a phone call.

The Verizon always sounded like I was on a mobile.

The Sprint sounds like I'm on a land line. It's tons better. I usually call my wife while I'm driving home. She commented on how much better I sound with the Sprint 8830 than I did with the Verizon 8830. The really funny thing is we have Verizon service at home. I'd of thought that would have been the best quality (intra-carrier)

While Verizon has broader signal coverage, could their vaunted "network" be over-taxed and dropping bits?

Not necessarily surprising. I had Sprint service when I (briefly) worked at a Verizon call center in Ohio. The carriers give their employees good rates, but they don't (or didn't when I worked for them) pay ETF's so their employees could break contracts with their existing provider.
