Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I have been accepted into the beta and have finally had the time to start listening to a book.

It looks as though you all are having much better luck than I am with the newest beta! On my 8830, I am having the following issues:

1) Very often when pausing, and pressing play, Audible will suddenly reset to the beginning of the book. Wow. That's frustrating.
2) When starting at the beginning of a Section, and fast forwarding close to the end of the section, I will get an eternal 'Buffering' message until reset.
3) As mentioned, the skip still exists but it is much better than before. I would lose easily 5-10 seconds per section before.
4) Quite often when pausing and playing, the book will start playing in a kind of 'fast forward' mode. It condenses the audio and starts playing double time. Sometimes this will happen until the end of the Section. When the next Section starts, it will be back to normal.
5) I can not get my list of books in 'My Library'. It lists the books on my SD card just fine, but it keeps trying to retrieve, then coming back with 'No books found'. Funny considering I have about 60 in my Library. I'm wondering if this has to do with the fact that I dropped down to Audible Basic due to my frustration over AudibleAir. This is possible, but I am still able to list and download all of my existing books when logging in to Audible.

My 'wish list' so far:
1) Oh, how I wish I could use the 'Next Track' 'Previous Track' and 'Volume' buttons on my Motorola S9 Bluetooth headset. These buttons map to the standard Media keys which work in the Media player like a charm. The S9 works great when I'm listening to my books, but I've come to rely on those headset buttons when I'm in my car. And I find especially when I've lost my place in my book (See above), I need to often fiddle around to get back to where I was.
2) In my opinion, the default option in Bookmarks should be 'Save', not 'Update'. Many times, I want to very quickly Save a new bookmark. How often do you Update a bookmark?
3) If I'm in Play mode and I go to the Next Track, it goes to the next track and pauses. I think it should skip to the next track, buffer the content, and start playing.

That's it so far. There's definate improvements over the latest public release, but if Audible wants to put this application in the same league as the Audible app for the Pocket PC, they've got a long way to go IMHO!

Until they change that, how about this...Press 0 from within the player. That is the hot-key for "Add bookmark". I use it after every listening session.

Didn't even know about that. Thanks for the great tip.

Grimlin - no comments at all on that priority list I put up? I haven't sent it to Audible separately, thought we'd probably merge here first?

Sorry. It has been a crazy week and it isn't even half over. I will try to take time to prioritize mine as well and then we can merge the two. Surely tomorrow will be a better day for me.

No problem - thought you had maybe missed it. I understand about crazy weeks sometimes!

Wow, they sure did "change trackball behavior." Any idea how it works now? I haven't been able to figure it out at all, or get it to do anything, other than Play/Pause.

Move the trackball and it does nothing. Press the trackball to activate the control. Move the trackball to FF RW or change volume. Press trackball again when done. Space bar is an easy toggle for pause/play.

OK, figured it out a little more - it WILL still control pause/play also - thought I was going crazy! If you roll the ball when its NOT activated, it doesn't do nothing, the 4 numbers and symbols around the ring (2,4,6,8 and symbols) turn alternatively from grey to black and back again. When they're all black, presses control pause/play. When they're grey, a press turns them light blue and activates the 4 controls.

Yup. Fixes the whole accidental FF or RW when holstering. They needed that badly. I use the numbers on the keypad anyway instead of the trackball so they could have completely taken the trackball control out as far as I was concerned.

I am still testing things and updating the top post as I find things. I will probably finalize it and send it to audible tomorrow.

Anyone else have any details on an error that I think creeped in on ver 1.0.66.? It is where at the end of a section, it bumps back to the beginning of the section and stops playing. It has happened to me a couple of times and I haven't taken the time to see if it is every section or just after a long listening session that it happens.

I've had that happen a couple times also, but haven't been able to tie it to anything specific so far, just seems random. Definitely not at the end of every section, that I can say.

Did I notice you say the "end of book missing" issue may not be fixed?

Fixed, no. Better, maybe. After the release notes were sent to me I got this message.

The trackball behavior works by rolling up or down or side to side to
activate, then press the center button. The Volume Up/Down and FF/REW
buttons will become blue(activated) just roll up/down, left/right to
activate what you would like to do.

Kind of disappointed about end of book. We were working pretty hard on
this one.

Wow, that was quick! Let us know when you get the release notes - I never hear from Audible about new releases or the release notes - apparently he's only sending them to you.

Just joined the beta group. Anybody have luck setting up their periodical subscriptions (Wall Street Journal, Etc)? I plan on transferring books via SD card, but it would be great to get my WSJ every a.m. to listen during my commute.

I can download one 5min segment of anything, but nothing more.

Glad to have you with us. I know this has come up before, but I don't have a VZW personally to test with. I may need to see if I can borrow one from work next week. From what I can gather, it appears that VZW or the BISB connections are limiting the download sizes. Can someone on VZW with a BES connection weigh in on this subject?

BTW, WiFi downloads rock Downloading a 91MB book now...

OK. Been using release version 68 for about 5 hours now. I tried to copy some books over via my SD card and they're not showing up in My Library. Funny thing is, a title I deleted from my SD card (added in the old version, before I could log in) still appears... Frustrating as heck.

Only thing i can guess that I am doing differently is that I am transferring the files to my SD card by placing it in a USB card reader, rather than by linking my BlackBerry to my PC. Does that make any difference?
