I agree to some extent. But to say "I know a guy" is gossip and not a very credible. I can say i know a guy who says that BBF will give away new BBS to all new members. Is it a rumor or just a plain lie?

More like we'll give away new BS, not BBS

dawg - i agree with this statement as well.

it is very hard to determine who is b/s'ing us and who is not.

i must say...about 4 hours ago today i was having a blast reading this forum at work but now i wonder what is true and what is not and it's not much fun anymore.

Ppl, if you're not supposed to post things you've heard in a rumour mill then let's stop talking in here period and just wait till the phone has been officially released or announced.

This person I'm talking about works at RIM and like I said saw and played with the CDMA curve. All he told me was that the keypad is aesthetically different than the current curve. That is a fact and not a rumour cause he saw it with his own eyes and not pics. Now he also told me that VZ is releasing it in a week or two, that to me is not fact until it's actually released.

None of it is fact. It is hear say (Rumor). You didn't see it, someone else saw it.

If you said you saw it that would be more credible to me. I just hate the I know a guy posts. I am gonna drink a beer and leave this alone for now.

We seem to have the same rumors being repeated here that the folks at BBGeeks are repeating.
BlackBerry Curve, coming soon to CDMA | BB Geeks

Does this mean the rumor has gone full circle now and we're citing each other as the source?

I don't understand why they say "The keyboard on the Curve doesnxxx8217;t light up, but thatxxx8217;s no big deal." That statement makes me think the person writing the article has never held a Curve in his hands if he states the keyboard doesn't light up. And it speaks to a credibility issue, doesn't it?

in my opinion(no one probably cares) but the "i know a guy.." is BS. its simple everyone slightly exaggerates everything. One person will say "i got a new blackberry curve and im playing with it right now!" when in reality its just a 8310, but then someone thinks new=verizon. and then the second case they are just flatly lying. in other words post something with pictures or web site links. otherwise no one will believe you

Default Blackberr 8330

I work @ VZW.

Its hush hush on this thing, seriously.
Guaranteed it will block WiFi/GPS on the device.
Will have Silver styling.
3G on CDMA (Rev-0).
Beginning of Q2 or they're not doing it (wait for 8900 series).

that actually doesnt provide any information not listed on here. VZW goes with silver as the primary color on their devices. EVDO is a given, and they also always block GPS.

I doubt they would block Wi-Fi. It's not a service.

Ok, I registered just to ask a couple of questions about this thread in particular (and this was done after a fair amount of research so hopefully they will not be stupid and might help others that come searching):

1. So clearly people are excited about the possibility of a CDMA version of the 83XX series (Curve) on Verizon/Sprint versus the GSM version on AT&T/TMobile--but why? Is the non-wifi internet service that much faster? Just trying to get a handle on why I would want to wait on this versus going with the TMobile Curve which also has wifi.

2. Speaking of which, doing a quick search it seems that many on here would rather use one of the other devices/carriers (and sacrifice wifi)--is the internet/data connection generally that good with Verizon/AT&T/Sprint that good that it makes the wifi that easy to sacrifice?

I realize this may not be adding to the "rumors", but hopefully it will help some people understand what the "fuss" is over this phone. And if it helps for background, I'm using an old Verizon Windows Mobile phone and Blackberry 72XX (provided by job that I must use) and am just trying to begin the process of finding the best model to replace both. Thanks for all the help....TS
