I found a great way to download mp3 ring tones. I copy and paste people's urls into a text file, I then email it to myself, I then click on each link and save it.
Also, if you visit this forum via the WAP page version from your handheld you can simply click on each hyperlink and then save it...
this 8700c is so sweeeeeeeeeet.

Has anyone had any luck with downloading an MP3 from a link on a web page?
After uploading the file to my web page, and clicking the link on the Cingular browser, a popup window on the 8700 opens up with no text and just an "OK" button.
After reading the manual it looks like this is the only way to load them.
Any thoughts?

Try downloading the Tjingle.MP3 from my web page:
www.christopherking.com/blackberry
It worked for me!

How did you transfer the 500K files to your blackberry?

I am not sure how well my home line will handle requests, but here it is at the moment for anyone who wants some more. I only put a few of them in here for now to see how well it works.

So exactly what LAME parameters are you actually using to make sure the resuklt is playable on a 8700?

Still need steps!
Can someone please walk me through getting the files and getting them to work on the 8700c? I joined the Yahoo group. I downloaded the mp3 file and it plays on the audio player. I even tried attaching the link to a message and sending to myself. But how to I get it as a option to choose for a phone tone? Please someone, step by step, and assume I am a moron and don't know anything, because in the blackberry arena I am. Thanks in advance.

Eureka! Got it!
Once file begins to play in player, just click the trackwheel on the right most button and select the save option. Perfect! I know, I did a bad thing. Premature posting, without searching...Bad newbie, bad!

Hello people, let me say that I appreciate the work you guys are doing here. Now back to the topic, I was reading through everyone's posts and everything and I was just wondering if this was possible. Have a program on your computer take mp3 files and cut it into 6 parts, or however many parts are needed to make each part less than or equal to 500kbs...Then have a program on your blackberry that peices the mp3's back together. You download one part at a time, then when all parts are downloaded you load up the program and select the peices than need to be put together and the order they go in. I don't think it's too complex of an idea, but then again I'm not a programmer so I can't really say. Just my thoughts, lemme know if it's something feasible.

I believe the specs for the MP3 file are 56kbps, 44.1kHz, and mono. The file size is 43KB, this one has worked for me
