everything seems good did the upgrade a few hours ago! All is well so far. After a reset with .37 i had around 22.2 megs free and now i have 24.8 free. It is definetly faster (more efficent?) Havent made alot off calls yet though. A piece of advice to everyone before i do an upgrade i make sure i run an registry error program after i install the new software and always do a restart on the computer before an install. plus i do a battery pull to make sure the phone is good and ready. it might have no effect on the out come but it could help.

@Renegade
Excellent idea!!! I didn't even think about the PC reboot and battery pull on the BB before the upgrades. But now that you mention it, I can see how this would put everything into a "steady" or "fresh" state prior to the upgrade.

Upgrade Error
I have a password on my phone and walked away not thinking it would ask for it again. It did, and because I was not there to put it in, the upgrade failed and said it could not reconnect to the device.
When I check the settings in about, it still reflects version 4.2. I reinstalled the 4.5 version and redeleted the vendor.xml file. For some reason when I reconnect the phone and pc, DM does not prompt me to upgrade.
I have done a pc restart and a battery pull. I think that the phone upgrades some files and didnt finish it. Right now my service bars are showing as "OFF" which I assume is because I haven't been prompted to re-verify security stuff...
Anyone know how I can force it to reload? Thank you for the help!

I ended up downgrading back to 4.2... I kept having a problem with the phone freezing/becoming unresponsive; I'd look at it, and wonder why the trackball wasn't moving the cursor, then notice the time was 8 minutes off or something... the phone would completely freeze. I did a battery pull, and it would restart, then freeze again every so often; once i was a bit too busy to pull the battery at just that moment, so i set it down, and it un-froze after a few minutes, only to freeze again after a while. I don't know exacty what was causing it, but I can't afford to not be able to use the phone when i need to so... downgrade necessary. Perhaps I'll try upgrading again next Friday so that I have the weekend to test for bugs before the work-week.

Raq, it sounds kke you need to remove your Media Card and copy all the files of it to your PC, the reinsert it and reformat the Media Card under OS 4.5. Older formatted Media Cards are causing some hangs and hour-glassing and reboots.

This particular release doesn't have Chinese. Watch for other carriers to release soon, though.

Desktop Manager and the OS are two SEPARATE downloads. If you have Desktop Manager 4.2 it's not required to update to Desktop Manager 4.5 before loading the 4.5 OS. The 4.5 OS WILL load just fine with DM 4.2.

2 are:
Fixed the Tmobile voicemail indicator not showing.
Missing the media file in the package - backgrounds, colored folders, etc.

This is an official release.
And the suggestion to reformat any memory card originally formatted on 4.2 is a good idea. It seems to eliminate lag and a little memory leak.

Some of my "full day" calendar entries - possibly only the recurring ones (I haven't really looked closely) - changed from midnight (or full day) to 4 o'clock. I refused the calendar sync when I saw the detail as I don't really want to go hunting and changing all those entries to clean it up. In a fairly short time, when my Outlook calendar gets out of sync with my BB on important items, I'll definitely accept the sync and worry about the wierd time issue later.

Probably a stupid question but will the lack of response on Options > About be addressed? I almost had a major coronary event when it didn't work after I upgraded. I just don't see myself remembering (alt) e a c e for that long.

Have to say this is the smoothest running release yet for me. No memory leakage, everything works and the phone seems to respond much quicker. Think this will be the last time i upgrade as i eagerly await the release of the bold here in the uk. hopefully will be time for my free upgrade around october and it will be out.

My battery only last a day with .52 so I downgraded to .46 and now battery charge last for 3~4 days depending on usage.

I have found .44 a little glitchy nothing major, but I will take your advice and upgrade to this. Loving 4.5 BTW!
