You'll need to call your BES admin and ask for an activation password to reactivate on the BES.

Go to options-about and after it says Blackberry 8100, the line under wireless handheld says v 4.2. whatever you have.

That did it, thanks for the help

I see. Wasn't a problem with the .71 and .73 software. Neither launched PTT by default and kept it in memory.

Default Slow Down

Has anyone else noticed a bad slow down with this newest version from AT&T?

Is the 8100 Smartphone Option from Blackberry's website now gone? Did they change the version to match with AT&T Red? I thought before 4.2.1.96 was for Blackberry 8100 Smartphone. Do the versions need to match for a specific BB?

Software For BlackBerry Pearl (AT&T Red & Maine Slate 8100c)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.154 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.2.1.154
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.2.1.96
Software Platform: 2.3.0.78
File name: 8100M_PBr4.2.1_rel154_PL2.3.0.78_A4.2.1.96_ATT.exe

Default noticed...

Yes, the pictures display very fast now, thumbnails and regular viewing.
Also, the cache is better, meaning the revisiting of prior apps, snappy!

Aside from this, can't find anything else, noticeable.

Good upgrade!

I loaded this OS last night and found it to be pretty stable, except I couldnt register a contact on PTT. I've searched a bunch of forums and yours is the only post I found relating to PTT, did you have any problems registering your PTT contacts? I kept getting an error message.

Can't help ya there. I don't use PTT and was trying to figure out how to disable it from launching. I guess I could always remove the app but it's not too much of a bother to keep it running in the background.

what would be earth-shattering are dissolving windows and scrolling icons & other cool stuff u find in vista....that would be nice.

3 days and counting, no issues to report. the upgrade seems basically transparent....

Worked perfectly fine for me. No issues except some misc settings changing. Like the new page view thing in the BB browser though.

I like to spell it, "RACE". Easier to remember or tell someone.

BTW, I still haven't found a theme that I like any more than Dimension Today Plus and Dimension Zen. The TIM Zen one is ok.

when i had 4.2.0.64 i liked the icons/apps in the list when you press menu. with this OS using the tmobile zen theme that seems to be gone....

unless someone knows if it's still there ? how to get to it ?

i hate the full screen of icons when you press the menu button....
