sure, there are lots of places (google is your friend) but you'll pay a hefty price for it to be unlocked, unbranded...

Unlocked, you're looking for eBay or the buy/sell section here.
Unbranded is highly unlikely.

The good new about it being branded is that the branding does not affect your using it with another carrier. About the only time you'll see the branding is when you start it up and the splash screen comes on for 2 seconds or so. You can put any carrier's OS on it so long as the OS is specifically for the 8320 model.

I'm using an unlocked Rogers 8300 on T-Mobile and running the OS from Hong Kong CSL. And it's all good.

I've got my TMobile 8320 on AT&T

Buy the phone from any dealer you want - get your best price - then spend the $30 or so to get it unlocked (There are several sources, one member here in fact has a great service)

Then your friend can use the phone on whatever carrier he/she chooses

Nice gift BTW

Yeah but hose are 8300 models and I'm looking for 8320. Seems like there is none. This is really ridiculous.

You should practice a little with your searches:

Unlocked 8320 for $499 at tigerdirect.

Blackberry Curve 8320 Unlocked GSM Smartphone - WiFi Support, QWERTY Keyboard, Speakerphone, Bluetooth, Instant Messaging, Pale Gold 8320CurveGold at TigerDirect.com

Note at the bottom of the page says:

"Please Note: Most of our unlocked cellular phones are only designed to work on GSM networks such as Cingular and T-Mobile (in the U.S.) and Fido and Rogers (in Canada). These phones are NOT compatible with CDMA carriers such as Verizon and Sprint. If your intended service provider is not among those major carriers, please contact that provider to determine GSM compatibility."

They sell the unlocked 8310 also for $519.

Good luck and happy holidays.
