I am amazed how accurate suretype is....I never expected this. I have been using an 8700c for a few months and love it, but I had to try the 7130c because I have the "I have to have everything new" syndrome. Knowing that I would return the 7130c after trying the device, I picked one up yesterday. I love the size, and everything about the phone, BUT I knew it couldn't touch my 8700c and my beautiful full keyboard. I may be having second thoughts on returning the 7130. The suretype has been dead on, 1 or 2 minor hiccups, but I am amazed. Now I have a dilemma, to keep the 8700 or switch to the 7130 full time. I won't keep both and never really thought I would have a decision on my hands. Anyone else find themselves in this dilemma?

Keep at it. I just found that I couldn't rely on it. Yes it's good, but that lingering doubt had me checking so often, it just slowed me down.

I'm with you. I'm also witn stinsonddog. I don't know how long I will like the suretype which lends me to think that this will definitly become a weekender or when I want more phone, less PDA. I've gotten 1 handed at sure type and it is getting smarter the more I use it. We shall see.... I'm going to see if I can go a week without switching back to the 8700c. I have both devices and nothing was otu of pocket for the 7130 so its not like I have anything to loose.... Plenty to gain though.

Yes it's not that it doesn't work, and it might be my mind, but I was always doubting and that meant slower responses.

It all comes down to personal preference...I HATED SureType at first, but I find I'm pretty efficient with it these days. Keep playing with them both, and chose the one you have the most comfort with.

Can I switch between a 7130 and 7290 using the same sim card?

Suretype just gets better and better the more you use it. Its an amazing piece of recognition software.

I like it more than I thought I would also. I was very good at it on 4.0, but did you notice your custom wordlist in 4.1 now? Mine's 5 times the size and almost unmanageable. I get three or four word suggestions now when I didn't before and it slows it down. It's my biggest gripe about 4.1.

I first started with a 7290, then a 7100. SureType was fine (since I was used to T9 from past phones) but I couldn't get over the use of "see/are."

Not really SureType's fault, since the key combo can result in either, but then it meant that I would always accidently have "I'll are you later."

I was happy to get the 8700 which is slimmer than the 72xx series. I can type one-handed on my 8700 if I have to, but it would be easier on the 7130.

Suretype is great, only took me a few days to get used to it, I loved t9, but suretype is much more effective

The main problem I had with SureType was that if you use diff lexicons for diff people, the BB will frequently pick the wrong one. And if you curse a lot in some emails, watch out in the other ones.

I used a 7100t for 1.5 years (including a year of college), and my custom word list was just foul. I was amazed how often my 7100t would default to some naughty word that I had taught it.

Now that I'm a 8700g user, my slips are far more infrequent. However, I was much much faster as a SureType user. I've had my 8700g for about 2 months, and I still haven't adapted to the smaller buttons. I'm anxiously awaiting the 7130g/t/v/whatever-they-call-it. The SureType reminds me of those wacky keyboards that pop up that are shaped in alternative ways: climbing the learning curve yields a significant throughput.

I've been using suretype for about 2 weeks now and Wow!!!

pretty amazing stuff. I've got big hands ahem and the suretype is much faster and more effieicnt for me than the 8700's tiny little keys.

Suretype always gets confused with see/are and to/yo -- but if you read your emails carefully you'll be ok. I can always tell when a friend writes on his 7100 because I'll get "are you later."

My blackberry is learning. I was discussing some rules with a fellow referee the other day in an email, and after about 1 or two emails it was getting a pretty good idea of what I was trying to say. Surprised... Is there anyway to start your custom word list from scratch?

You can go into the scroll wheel once you are in the list and clear the list. Is that what you want to do?

The 7130e is my first BB, and I was amazed at how quickly Suretype learned what I was trying to say. There are some hiccups with it, but that is to be expected. One thing that I would like to do is get my custom word list the way i want it, and then be able to export it to my computer. Then when it gets too full, I can erase, and replace with the backup. There could be a way to do this already and I just don't know it.

Just converted to 7100i from 7520. The experiment is on. Suretype is ok so far.
