Default 8310 or 8320?

Please Login to Remove!

What do you guys think? Which one you rather have, GPS or Wifi? And why?

I am looking to get the curve, but I am not sure which one I should buy.

Thanks

Personally, I would want GPS first, camera second, and WiFi third. Of course, you may have different preferences.

My personal preference is camera 1st, gps 2nd, and wifi is of no real use to me. Gimme gps on my curve and I'm good.

I prefer the GPS to the WiFi. But that could be a bias, since I've used the GPS on the 8800 to get unlost.

WiFi. I just signed-up for T-Mo's H@H service.

Also, I live in Manhattan and so I don't drive too often. It's also difficult to really get lost in the city.

I already have a Holux GPS receiver that works great so for me I didn't bother with the 8310. I am a Rogers Wireless subscriber in Canada and data rates are quite high so I'm all about the 8320. This way I can use the wifi to surf more on the Blackberry as I am always around wifi connections at work and home.

I'm still debating this myself...

I have an unlocked 8300. Assuming that, as the rumor goes, T-Mobile service books will be properly supported on all the OS updates for the 8300 after 9/24, then the 8300 will continue to be a great device on T-Mobile...

Still on the fence about H@H ... and if I don't get that, then WiFi really becomes far less important - especially since we're looking at 3G starting to roll out over the coming year.

GPS is neat - but I can get that with a bluetooth GPS puck on my keychain.

There really may be no reason at all to pay for an 8320 this month after all...?

BTW: re: GPS in the city -- even on foot, there are cool things that you'd be able to do with LBS (location based services) if you have GPS -- e.g., have something like Beyond411 instantly tell you where the nearest Starbucks is - as you're walking down 7th Avenue, or where you can get some Pad Thai or sushi...

Yup ... and for most purposes, the current data rates (speed) are fine. I'd enjoy getting 3G on T-Mobile, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

I had the urge to lock in the $19.95 Family Plan H@H add-on now before it goes up (another $10), but it's going to be a while before we'd be getting any serious use out of it. At home, I'm probably going to finally sign up for Comcast Voice or another VoIP plan (even tho I hate Verizon customer svc, I might opt for FIOS if they ever get to my neighborhood)....and my TMo signal at home is generally OK, so UMA at home isn't a big plus. We make enough calls off premises so that we probably couldn't cut out minutes down. So H@H is of questionnable value to me.

I'm thinking that GPS is more important to me right now than WiFi in my Curve. Too bad TMo won't be selling the 8310, just for peops like me. One thought: maybe I'll get an 8320, unlock it, and trade it to somebody for an unlocked 8310...? That might work... Then, of course, I'd have an 8300 to sell also - maybe offset the cost of the 8320 purchase from TMo.

Acch! so many decisions!

I think wifi would be pretty cool but I would really like internal GPS too, even though the BT pucks are small. Camera, eh it's just something extra, not a deal breaker for me.

I'd take GPS first, Wi-Fi second, and a camera last. In fact I'm kind of tempted by the 8820 that is coming out. But I'm not sure if I'd give up my Curve for it since I love the form factor though.

Wouldn't that be just easy if the Curve had both Wi-Fi and GPS? Goodness...
(I am going with Wi-Fi because I generally know where I am... )
