While I had the technician on the phone, I asked about the 8820. She said the launch date was set for 09/16 according to an email she received this morning . I'm seriously considering exchanging my Curve for it. The dust problem makes me doubt the quality of the Curves. Besides, the wi-fi on the 8820 would be cool!
I have also heard 9/16 as the 8820 release date. Exchanging a curve for an 8820, is a no-brainer. Just do it ;) The 8820 is a different (and better) class of device.

It wasn't an AT&T outage. It was a RIM (the manufacturer of the BB and provider of the BIS services.) It wasn't the carrier's (including AT&T) fault.

Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. The Curve is a very good device. The 8700's had dust "problems" when they came out too and the 8700 is sometimes referred to as the best device RIM ever came out with. It just happens. .

Yup my 8700 had a bad dust problem but I have no dust in my Curve. Luck of the draw I think sometimes.

I believe someone a few responses back asked my source: AT&T Government rep. Also yes there was an outage this past week. I receive work schedules and outages from the helpdesk.....Seems they are constantly reconfiguring.

I would not give up on the device becasue it does not have 3G. If it is not in your area, what the heck. Doing the internet on a BB screen is not very good anyway.
