Voice dialing is very cool. It requires no setup or recording of names that other phones require. you simply speak any name in your contact list and it recognizes it.

You can also speak a numeric phone number to dial.

Awesome.

...Now if I could only figure out how open WAV attachments from my voicemail...

Dang, that is very cool. I'm looking forward to getting my 8100 once I can actually buy one. They are in very short supply in my area but I suppose Ixxx8217;ll just have to hang in there.
Regards,

Couple of caveats. First, you have to say the name exactly as it appears in your address book (titles and middle names included). That threw me for a loop at first. Second, I'm not able to have my BT Headset (Netcom GN6210) activate the VAD even though it is supposed to support it. However, I believe that this may be an issue with the 6210 which has "dual connectivity" with my office phone.

I had the same problem until I realized I had to say the name exactly as it appears in my address book, included "Mr." or "Mrs." and including the middle name. Once I did that it's been dead on.

Been doing that....still isn't working. I don't have the names saved on the sim card....make a difference?

SIM card shouldn't matter, but perhaps your voice isn't compatible... Do you have problems with other voice recognition apps (i.e. customer support phone lines)

Just a guess, mine works fine as stated...

This same issue happened with me. I noticed that the first time the voice app was started, it scanned the address book, which at the time was just my sim as I hadn't loaded my contacts yet. Then, after I loaded my contacts it wouldn't find anything. To fix, go to Options - Language, and change to English (United Kingdom) and save. Go back and change to English (United States) and save again. Now launch the voice app and it will scan your contacts and work. (This worked for me, YMMV).

No problem - this should be added to the bug list. At least they should add an option to re-scan the contacts database. BTW, it works fine when you add new contacts.

My Gennum nXZen headset does not initiate voice dialing as documented in their user manual, though they do say that it will only work when used with the hands free profile and not with the headset profile (the headset advertises both to the 8100.) Is there any way to force the 8100 to use a certain profile with a device?
