Default HTML Mail / In-line photo question with BES vs BIS

Please Login to Remove!

We've got the cheaper version of BES (4.1.4.143) that does not allow HTML mail. When we receive one of those types of messages it's all ugly URL's (basic text).

My question is this. (2 user BES installation, so cost is a factor)

Does the more expensive version of BES support HTML? I read that it did (among a few other nice features).

Does everyone who's out there using BIS get html mail?

What about in-line photo's? They don't come through on my version of BES, how about the more expensive version?

I think I paid about 700 bucks to get BES running and I think I'm looking at thousands for the better version. Need to know if it's even a consideration. The 2 users are the company owners who notice the whole html thing and find it annoying as heck.

It's unclear as to what version of BlackBerry server you're actually referring to.
Are you running BES 4.1.4, or BPS 4.1.4 ?

If you're running BES 4.1.4, as you've indicated, then just patch it to SP7 which will give you HTML messaging support (among other things). HTML messaging support was added officially as of SP6.

If you're running BPS 4.1.4, then you're at the most recent version and would need to upgrade to BES to get HTML messaging functionality.

And... yes, all BIS users have HTML message functionality.

I believe I'm running PBS (got the 1 user free version than added 5 liscenses). Does this mean I'm locked into a sub functioning system? Are there any upgrade paths? It gets my goat that BIS users have this functionality while my paid software does not.
