Cool Address Books (BES 4.x + Notes 6.5.x)

Please Login to Remove!

We took the view not to allow wireless address book synch's when we upgraded from 2.2 to 4.x (we have disabled it in global settings and policies). This was because very few of our Blackberry users had populated there inotes template with their address books and we felt it was too complicated for them to do a synch within Notes to their iNotes contacts (trust me, for some it's a difficult task!). So we left the configuration of our deskop software (intellisync option) to use Lotus Notes for a manual wire sync.

All of this seems ok apart from people who have previously synch'd their Notes address book with the iNotes template. Now when you go into the desktop software and the intellisync option and try and change the PIM settings for the Address Book it doesn't let you select Lotus Notes. The ok button is greyed out. I presume from this that it checks your BES account and sees an iNotes template has been created previously and therefore you have contacts available in the mail database. My question is, how do you force the desktop software to ignore this and enable you to select Lotus Notes for a manual wire sync?

Thanks.

I think this may be what your looking for, I found this in the desktop manger help

If your handheld is integrated with an email account using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 and wireless synchronization is enabled, your address book, calendar, memos, and tasks are synchronized over the wireless network automatically. To synchronize your handheld by connecting your handheld to your computer, you must turn wireless synchronization off using the handheld.

1. In your handheld address book, calendar, memos, or tasks, click the trackwheel.

2. Click Options.

3. Set the Wireless Synchronization field to No.

4. Click the trackwheel.

5. Click Save.

6. Repeat step 1 through step 5 for each program that you want to synchronize by connecting to your computer.

Unfortunately on the v4.0 handheld the options within address book does not have a Wireless Synchronization field that you can set to no.

"The ok button is greyed out"

This is because you upgraded from 2.2 to 4.0.

If you follow RIM rules you need to upgrade to each version one by one. Or keep up with the upgrade releases.

Uninstall the software, from Registry and all.Install 4.0 and it should work.
