Default Browser disappeared - BB 9550

Please Login to Remove!

I bought Verizon BB 9550 couple of days ago and using it for Fido. It is unlocked phone and no issues with calls and emails. When I got the phone there was a browser incon on the main page but as I inserted the Fido simcard it disappeared. I thought it was a Fido problem and I called them. They checked their system and explained that there was no issue on their side. They further explained that if my emails are working fine then your browser should work if connected with wifi. I have only email account with Fido where as wifi connection was estabished but no browser I could not check.

Last night I tried to use wifi without having a simcard so I took the simcard out from handset and got the browser back but unfortunately whenever I click on the browser icon there was no response from handset. All other icons were working properly.

Could anyone help me over my problem? Need more information please let me know.

You may have lost your service books after you removed the battery. I lose my service books after EVERY reboot. There is an issue with that. Hopefully they'll be corrected with the a new OS update.

Try these steps...........
I'm not sure in the first step will apply for you because you have Fido?

First
Options>Advanced Options>TCP/IP>click BB button>Reset to Defaults
- Keep the APN Settins Enabled the same as is
- Check the APN Authentication Enabled
- Type [email address] for Username
- Type cingular1 for Password
- Click BB button and Save

Second
Go to Service Book>Click BB button> Show Keyboard>Type 4?2?
- When the Legacy Restored pops up, click OK

Last
- Connect the phone to DM, reinstall the service book, and resend the service book from BlackBerry Internet Service

Hi lc1412, I tried to follow your instructions but unfortunately I wasn't that good to make it workable. Last step I connected the handset with DM and got lost what to do. Should the handset automatically pick the service book or I have to do something else. Please don't get mad, I am really not that quick in this hi-tec world.

I won't get mad. I'm glad to help, if I can. Try to contact your carrier and see if they can "push" you service books to you.

I tried many time to get help from Fido but end result was the same, no luck. One thing I want to mention here that couple of days ago I inserted Rogers simcard into me handset and used all the services perfectly alright there wasn't any trouble at all. How the handset got the service book in that case? I also used the Verizon's simcard received with handset, everything was nice and smooth and I spent half an hour browsering different things through my handset. Anyway, I sent a detailed email with all of issues to Fido and also requested them if they could help me to find a service book for this handset. Thanks for your help and will keep eye on your posting to resolve the issues with my handset.

Default 9550

It´s not a problem of your BB. The problem is related to the carrier.
My BB 9550 works very well with wifi connection when the simm card is out. The browser is displayed. Once the simm card is inserted, the browser disappered and the wifi connection is not available. This occurs because we don´t have a data plan.
