I have uma in small cap on my phone, does that mean I can make calls via my internet service? I don't have T-Mobile@home service.

Non capitalized uma means you can use wifi to make phone calls but that your minutes are still deducted as if they were normal minutes (anytime, weekend, night). If it's UMA (all caps) that means you have the T-mob @ Home service, then any calls made in UMA are free, and you don't use any of your minutes.

Trimix, I don't want to "start anything", but I'm not sure this is 100% correct. In another thread in this forum, I've detailed my struggles with a new sim card and WiFi/UMA connectivity. Until last week, I had UMA in my home at all times and I was still charged for minutes.

Of course, I don't have T-Mob @ Home or a TMO branded router... Is that the difference?

UMA has nothing to do with @Home or the @Home router.
uma calls do not go through WiFi.

In order to get "free" minutes you need to pay for the unlimited hotspot calling(any calls over wifi)

Tmobile @ home is using your normal home phone over broadband.

also - you do not need to use a TMO branded router for the hotspot at home service, but I do recommend getting one as every router I've been on has created problems with random drop calls. Never have had any problems with my TMO branded router.
