Thumbs down SD card not recognized

Please Login to Remove!

Before you ask, I have searched and none of the solutions helped.

I have just recently bought a 9700 second hand from a friend of mine. There was no SD card present in the phone so I decided to install my own. The card is not being read at all and I am positive that the card is good (took it out of my old phone). No option to format or anything.

The settings I have are as follows:
Compression: Enabled
Media Card Support: On
Mass Storage Mode Support: On
Auto Enable...: Yes

The phone is on version 5.0.0.602

Any help is appreciated.

With the SD card installed, perform a hard reset(pull the battery).

What indicates it's not being read?

You could try formatting it in a PC.

I do not have an SD card reader, but I was able to format it in another phone. Still no luck.

is it in?

I had that issue that I thought it was in but it was actually ejected.

it is a push to eject and might be in wrong posisition.

Try to back up the card on ur pc (if you have anything on it) and format the card. Insert back on the BB and should work, at least it did when I had this prob.

You failed to mention WHERE you sourced the MicroSD card from; and the settings above is only abbreviated from what you ACTUALLY see.

1. Ensure the device is NOT connected to your PC/Mac/Linux box.
2. Encryption ... the setting you failed to post - is this Enabled? IF not ... was this MicroSD card used in another smartphone that COULD encrypt the card? IF so return it in the ORIGINAL smartphone and un-encrypt it.

PS: If you Formated or did a hard-reset on that former smartphone - which encrypted the card - then you're out of luck; get a new card.
