Should I buy a play book?
Please Login to Remove!
Hi,
I am thinking of buying a Playbook while the prices are low, but I am still undecided is it worth it or should I look at another option. I am currently using the wife's iPad to browse the web, purchase items on line and checking the bank accountmongst other things. I am on the iPad daily about a hour or two. I just thinking about having a device of my own, and to go with my 9700 I thought look to the Playbook. Against it competitors ho does it fair? The other pad I was possibly thinking about was the new kindle when it comes out, your views are appreciated.

Re: Should I buy a play book?
the kindle fire is a downsized playbook in storage and specs, mono speaker, no HDMI and no camera. it is geared for amazon content and purchases.
The playbook works well with a BB device and can do a lot more than a fire. I even had a few ipad owners look at the playbook and said wow, that is a multi tasking tablet fo sure. OS is coming next month and will make the playbook even better.
there is so much the playbook can do that it is impossible to put it all in one thread.
I know over 40 people with playbooks and are very happy with them.

Re: Should I buy a play book?
The big advantage of the PlayBook is the bridge, if you have a BlackBerry smartphone. Software has a long way to go and will eventually get more complete, but it will probably be adequate for you for the jobs you mentioned. The hardware is solid.

Any word on the new software knottyrope mentioned being able to directly access BIS email? ( without the handheld doing the work)

Re: Should I buy a play book?
RIM is promising to blow us all away at CES in like 5 days. I suspect we'll either see it working by then or at least how it is supposed to work. I hope.

Re: Should I buy a play book?
After reading the reviews and views on the forums I have taken the plunge and order the basic model as I feel it should serve my requirements perfectly. Hopefully next time I post something on the forum it will via my new Playbook, and not the wife's IPad.
Here to 2012 and better times for Rim and their products.

Re: Should I buy a play book?
Over a week has passed and I have my 16gb PB. It has lived up to expectations in quality of the component itself and how it performs. I can honestly say I am very satisfied with the product. It is quick when surfing the web, there are enough apps for me, sound is good and the quality of the items viewed via Youtube and the BBC iplayer is spot on.
Good produce glad I invested.

Re: Should I buy a play book?
After a few days of using, I find its native browser really fast.
The bridge function is cool to. problem only is the speed of our data connection is really slow here in Manila.
Another cool function is being able to share files between my PC and PB via wifi.
Did I say screen resolution is fantastic.
So far, I am satisfied.

Re: Should I buy a play book?
The OS2 release is software only. I've heard nothing about a 2nd Playbook model.
The more I play with this thing, the more I love it. It's not an iPad, but doesn't pretend to be an iPad. There aren't a whole lot of apps out there for the Playbook, but when you have a flash-enabled browser that's actually pretty fast, you don't NEED a whole lot of apps.
