Default how to replace microSD card with larger one

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I already have a 2GB microSD card that I would like to replace with a larger one.

Can someone please tell me What is the best way to do this upgrade/transfer? I have Photos, Music, Videos, on it that I have saved, but I don't know what the System has put onto it.

Thanks,
gschlact

Use a card reader and a computer.

Alternatively just copy the photos, music, and videos to your computer, pop in the larger card, and copy everything back onto the card.

Thanks for the responses.

I do understand how to copy to my PC and then copy back to new card.
HOWEVER - do I need to worry about any Intalled Apps that might reside on the current microSD card? OR does doing the full copy address this?

I don't think you can have apps installed and running from your SD card. If they are installer files which you keep like as a backup, treat them as a normal file and copy them over.

Wirelessly posted (curv 8310)

Some aps will save to the sd card but as long as you just copy and paste and don't make a new dir for these files it should read it fine.

put in your Mass Storage password and access the blackberry.

Cut and Paste the root folder onto your computer.

replace the 2GB with 4GB or whatever and then Cut and Paste the folder back.

And you're done

How I've always handled this, with a number of phones through different manufacturers is as follows...

1. Create a directory on your PC desktop. Give it a name like "phonecardbak" or something similar.

2. Shut down your phone and remove the card from it.

3. Using an adapter and a card reader via USB, or a built-in reader if your PC is so equipped, mount your current card on the PC and open it in an Explorer window (I assume you're using Windows).

4. Select all files and directories on your card, and then do a copy/paste to the directory you created.

5. Remove your old card from the PC and replace it with the new one.

6. Now, just as you did a copy/paste to the PC Desktop directory, do the same from that directory to the new card.

7. Remove the card from your PC, place into the phone, and boot the phone back up.

Everything should now be set. You can download and use BBFileScout to verify the new files on your card, from the phone.

HTH.
