Default 9700 - a few problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there

I have looked through the forums and can't find anything to help me.

I have had my 9700 (my first BB/smartphone) and set it up with no problem at all. It's been working perfectly ever since. Until now...

I've downloaded quite a few apps and uninstalled half of them. They're still showing up on the list of apps and I've tried removing them via my BB desktop software but it looks like I'm stuck with them.

Every time I try to open BlackBerry App World, I get the response that I'm not connected to the wireless network. I have only started getting that message in this last few days. I downloaded an app (Signal Refresh) and it worked the first few times but not anymore. I'm sitting ten feet away from my wireless router.

I'm also having problems sending and receiving emails from my phone - again this has only just started to be a problem.

I've checked my connections and everything else I can think of - I'm fairly sure that there's an app conflict somewhere along the line - I might be wrong though?

Does anyone have any advice for me? (Apart from stop downloading so many apps that is!)

Thanks

ETA: I've checked my connections a couple of times today and the wi-fi has turned itself off for some reason?

DO you have a BB data plan?

Have you done a battery pull?

There's something else I've just remembered - to send an SMS you need to have a message service centre number in options > sms > service centre. Every time my phone is switched off, this number disappears - when I want to send an SMS I have to copy and paste the number in there from my contacts where I have it saved.

Unlimited Internet is one thing, a BB data plan is another. Just to confirm, do you have a specific BB data plan?

Sorry, didn't know that! I'm not sure what that might be, how would I find out?

I've security-wiped off the apps and still can't get onto blackberry app world 'not connected to the wireless network', I guess it wasn't the apps causing a conflict?

Sounds like you don't have the BB data plan.

Can you send and receive email? BBM? Use the BB browser?

Call your carrier and ensure that you have it or have them add and send the service books if you don't.

I can send and receive email - I've been doing that for the last six weeks without any problems at all - until a couple of days ago. I noticed a couple of times today that my wifi settings had been switched off - but I know for sure I didn't do that. I was wondering if it could have been down to an app I downloaded that turns off anything you're not actively using to save your battery - ie if you're not in range of wifi, it'll switch itself off. Now I have no apps on there, I still can't get onto Blackberry App World. It's a bit confusing! Ask me to fix pretty much anything on a computer and I'll happily get on with it!

The browser I'm using is the default web n walk one - I can access the internet with no problem at all - which doesn't make sense as Blackberry App World is telling me I'm not connected to a wireless network

I am really appreciating your help and time btw

When it says Wireless Network, it means RIM's servers.
T-mobile uk?
You need a Blackberry Booster on top of any internet boost/included in plan you may have.

Aha! That explains that one! I'm not used to RIM's way of doing things yet! I've not had any problems with with the servers until now, is there any reason this might have changed?

I've just checked my services online - I have the Internet Booster and the BlackBerry Email Flexible Booster. I've checked my itemised bits and pieces and there's no data usage charges and no caps on anything. I have 300 minutes and 300 text messages on my plan and I've only used 1 minute and sent 1 text message. Does that help explain anything?

No it doesn't.
But you have the booster, so that's fine.
I'd ring them up and ask for technical support [last I remember you could press like 3 or 4 to get straight through to them] and talk to them about it.
They may be able to tell you if they've accidently removed the plan etc.

Thank you for your advice MidnightDraven, I will do that. I'm pretty sure the plan is still attached to my account because it was showing online when I logged in - but it's not going to hurt to get some technical support from them.
