Thanks.
Well two things...

#1 I gained stability by going to Bell Mobility's .423
#2 I read this article...

http://www.blackberrycool.com/2010/0...vs-3g-vs-wifi/

It basically says that 3G is only streaming audio/video, downloads and voice and data at same time

ahh the bold not having 7.2 explains why my iphone tethering is faster and more reliable (i am in a switched on area). As far as 3G on the berry itself its gotta be the way they handle data as 3G on the berry is horribly slow downloading apps and browsing compared to iphone or any other 3g device i put my iphone sim into. Tethering with (thether) on the 9700 i couldnt even do a youtube video without tons of buffering, everything flies on the iphone. I have the berry just for multiple email accoutns, keyboard, and bbm but im debating my needs and if i need to continue the $9.99 + $30 for this extra line for the 9700, awesome phone though and i love toys oh smart choice or geeks choices *sigh*

Finally got around to tethering my TMO 9700.

Here are the results.

I should note, this is also about what I get when connected via wifi on my laptop to roadrunner/time warner cable. Then again, i'm on the basic plan (slowest connection, 1.5mps - 3.0mps I think).

And if your curious. I just tethered an AT&T 8900 (EDGE of course) I got 0.22mps down and 0.3mps up.

Wait, how are you people anywhere close to 3.6mpbs? When I use the DM to tether, dial-up modem options only allows me to set up to 921kbps (or some number like that)..

I use the DM option as well. So much easier!

However, 3.6mbps is the max the tmo 9700 will go.

I highly doubt anyone is getting this (while tethering) unless your in a very very very good area...maybe one of the spots they rolled out 21mps. So what...maybe philly?

The speed tests on the phone are off...the fastest mine showed once was 22mbps which is impossible! That's using the xtremelabs speedtest app.
