That tells the whole tale right there.
No BlackBerry Data Plan.

You'll only get EGDE (in caps) when you have a BlackBerry Data Plan.
egde (lower case) means you don't have the plan.

See thats the thing.. She does have the data plan. We both got the exact same service plan.
Maybe someone on AT&Ts end screwed something up when they set her account up??
I know when I upgraded my RAZR and got the Curve, I had to call someone and remind them I had just gotten the unlimited data plan and had to have them turn it on.

Thats about the only thing left I can think of unless going and registering with the BIS site will magically fix it..
But yeah weve both got the same data plan and text messaging plan. She uses the internet all the time on it with no troubles (although apparently only with MediaNet hehe) and after three months, I havent heard her complain about an outrageous phone bill so shes not getting charged like she would without a data plan..

Exactly. I believe they provisioned the wrong data plan on her line.
Call the carrier. If they insist that the correct data plan is there... then ask them to remove it and then call back and have someone else add it back.

Make sure you INSIST that they add a BlackBerry Data Plan... not just a generic data plan.
You NEED a BlackBerry Data Plan in order to get EDGE and use the BlackBerry services you're having trouble with.

Yeah just got off the phone after 45 mins with Customer Service..
So apparently when she went into the AT&T store and bought the Curve, with the unlimited BB Data plan and unlimited text messaging, they didnt bother actually adding it.

I dont think shes paid much attention to her bill because it went from literally $400 a month down to almost $200 but shes been getting charged PER USE for internet because they never added the plan. The lady on the phone says her account still has her old Nokia phone on the account. Tried to tell me that she needed to call in with her IMEI number and get it updated but I call BS, I never had to do that with mine other than to tell them to turn on my data plan right away instead of waiting for the next billing cycle. So yeah someone screwed up royally and now shes out another $75 or so for internet usage on her next bill too. Way to go AT&T..

Yep, others have experienced faulty customer service on all carriers.

Sorry it happened to you.

Only now that they finally moved her to the plan she originally thought she got, her text messaging isnt working aaaaaaaargh!!!

Ahh cant win em all I guess! Luckily this never happened to me in my 10 or so year experience with em!
Thanks for the help again folks!
