Re-open Psi and go to service discovery, remove MSN list or log out of it.

Last night all of my MSN contacts went offline and now when I look at the ursine.ca server the MSN service is no longer listed ... I've re-registered through another jabber server and my MSN contacts are back online ... hopefully this one is a little more stable.

I can't get my yahoo contacts to show up. Maybe I'll try the other version later but this is only working for AIM for me.

I tried a few from this list:
http://www.xmpp.net/

and settled on using "nedbsd.nl". It seemed both stable, and random enough that the existing server load shouldn't be high.

As a side note, I've noticed that a few servers have an SMS transport available but I have, as yet, been unable to register those transports. Anyone know of a public jabber server with a working SMS transport? I'd love to be able to move my SMS conversations into the Google Talk client and out of my Messages list!

Default Icq?

Has anyone had any luck with ICQ? On ursine.ca, I can never get the "register" menu item to go active. If I use jabber.anywise.com, I can register the transport but it never seems to pick up my contacts.

My advice: go to the xmpp site I listed above and start trying servers until you hit on one that seems to work for you.

There seems to be dramatic variation in the type and quality of transports available on the various servers.

Having problems getting this to work with Yahoo - haven't even been able to bring in my contacts on my desktop, so I haven't even tried Google Talk on the BB yet.

I'm following the instructions on BigBlue and using ursine.ca and have registered the yahoo thingy and it said "registration successful". But now the icon in PSI is just spinning and spinning...

Okay, I got it working using a different jabber server. Everything's working great so far - just have to figure out the details.

One thing, though - Google Talk on my phone (or on my PC) doesn't show "idle" status of my Yahoo clients. Is that supposed to happen? Or what?

Thanks Buddy, I ended up using deepdarc.com and it seems to be great.

Okay, this is getting kind of frustrating.

It appears that my Google Talk on my BB won't work properly unless the Google Talk client on my PC is running. For example, it won't recognize some people as being online, until I open the client on the PC. But this only happens sometimes - not all of the time. Also, sometimes I get a "Error 407" but can't figure out a pattern. Argh. Do you think some of these issues have to do with the transport I'm using for Yahoo?

I would love to get this working reliably so I don't have to go the Pay route.

The good news is - neither Verichat nor IM+ would stay "connected" on my BB overnight. But this morning, I checked and Google Talk is still running fine in the background.

Im going to give it a shot mark- thanks for the info. To me the best test of stability seems to be loading up Google Talk on your PC and seeing if the contacts you're sure are online remain visible. Ill post up my results.

What is the other server you used? I'm having Yahoo issues and would like to try what you did.

thx
