Inbox folder tree missing under "File" option
Please Login to Remove!
Hi all, I trawled through numerous pages of search results to qualify this new post. :D
When I choose "File" for my Lotus Notes mails (through BES), the folder tree of my LN mailbox doesn't show up, it only shows the BWC tree. The strange part is that even the Inbox doesn't show up at all! But when I use the "View Folder" function, everything is there, I can even access the old mails. I've checked the redirector settings, resynced, the relevant folders have been selected, and I've been on this setting for quite a while, everything worked fine. That was until I upgraded the OS to 4.0.0.185.
Is this a known issue with OS4? Or am I missing some setting? Filing messages on my LN still works, the handheld will file the message wirelessly, but I'm just unable to do so from the handheld. Hopefully they'll fix this.

Strange!
You say it worked before. Which was the last version of BlackBerryOS before you upgraded to 4.0.0.185?

Sorry, left out the most important details, OS3.8 (can't remember the tail), 7290 running BES 2.2.2.6. I find it strange too, that upgrading the OS could do that. But I really haven't done anything else drastic other than that.

What did you change on your handheld prior to getting this problem? I've managed to "reverse" the problem. Now I can see my Notes folder tree, but BWC folder tree is gone.

I changed from OS 3.8 to 4.0, that's it. What did you do to reverse the problem?

I first backed up my stuff, then using the same backup/restore function in Desktop Manager, I cleared all the databases in the handheld. Followed up with a re-install of the OS with Apploader (you might have to reinstall the OS itself on your computer, which I did, but I don't think helped). After that I restored my own files and got the folder tree back. But of course now the BWC folders are missing, even with new service books and resets etc.

I'm a new Blackberry user and I only use BWC, but my folder structure seems a bit strange, so can someone tell me if this is how its supposed to be. When I choose the "File" option from the menu, I see this:
-WebClient
-----WebClient
----------Inbox
---------------Draft
----------Sent
----------Trash
What confuses me is that there are two "WebClient" folders, one inside the other. It will allow me to file something inside the inner "WebClient" folder. But if I do that, where does that email appear when I log into the WebClient on my computer?? And what is its purpose??
Also, what is the "Trash" folder for?? There is never anything in this folder, even when I delete mail. However, when I log into the WebClient on my computer, I see a "Deleted Items" folder which is not present on the handheld. This folder seems to have everything I deleted from the handheld.
If I choose "View Folder" from the menu, then I only see one WebClient folder with the same inner contents as above.
Then I also noticed that I can "Save" mail and view the saved folder, but this saved folder is not on the list of folders when I choose "View Folder". But instead there is a seperate menu item for this.
Is this all normal or is mine messed up?

Inbox folder tree missing under "File" option
Hey now hold on a second... I just noticed this AM after upgrading from 3.7 to 4.0 on my 7780 that I'm having this exact problem too.
I haven't tried reloading the BB but it sounds like it may work?
Thanks for the info,
Jay

Your having problems with your state database. Delete the folders out of the state database and your folders will show up the next time the database reps with your lotus notes mail file.
I've had this problem with several of the blackberry users on my blackberry server.

NOOOO! I had this problem today on my 7100g all of a sudden and the only way I was able to solve it was to go back to 4.0.0.198...an older OS version. I was running 4.0.0.219 on 7100g and all of a sudden it happened today. Reinstalling the same OS didn't work, deleting the folders/folder ID DBs didn't work...
I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE STATE DB!!ARGH.
Can someone having the problem, try clearing the state db as posted and tell me if it works. If it does, I'll upgrade to the newer OS again.

The state database is a lotus notes database. It functions as sort of a throughway for the lotus notes and blackberry on a lotus notes blackberry server.

Oh nevermind...I was on an Exchange environment so I guess it's not relevant.

All right, resetting the BB and reconnecting to the BES resolved the problem.
Just a little background, we’re running MS Exchange with a BES.
I’m not sure, but apparently when the BB was upgraded from 3.7 to 4.0 one of the data folders must have gone corrupt when the BB upgrade software attempted to import my old data. Oh well, nothing lost other then 25 minutes of reloading the BB.
Thanks for the help,
Jay

Where do I find State Database
I'm a Lotus Notes user with OS4.0.198, my LN Inbox and folders worked for one day then vanished. I see there is a possible fix by clearing the "state db". Can you please tell me where I find it and how to clear it. Thanks.

How annoying of a problem, I just had this happen today. The GPRS network in the area I am travelling was out of whack for most of the day...now that its back I have this same problem. This is against an Exchange 2003 server with Good.com's BES product.

I spoke too soon, I sent the BWC service book to the device again afterwards and it is now back to only listing BWC folders.
To reset/re-activate I just went into the Enterprise Activation and entered my email address and password. It pops up a screen stating that it must clear the device to activate with the new account. this may be due to using aliases on my email system (the blackberry thinks it is one address but I register with another).
I am redoing this to see if it stays fixed if I don't add BWC back.
